Will have to google this flower; never heard of it. Looks like a combination of several flowers. Is it in the impatient family? Could almost pass for dianthus. Love the colors.
I finally wintersowed godetia this year, first time trying it. I see T+M lists it as a hardy annual. Is it going to bolt as soon as the hot weather arrives? Will it flower in part shade?
Karen, I have found godetia really needs full sun for blooms and yes, they do bolt when the hot weather arrives. They will self-sow, so if you find a nice spot, you will have them for years to come
Thanks, Joanne. But I wonder how your zone 3 foreign language translates to my zone 6 language in terms of "full sun" and "hot weather". I think we might be talking to one another in different "tongues"
Wow. Those are pretty! Never heard of them before. Wonder if I can find some seeds.....
BHG Encyclopedia says they like cool summers, Karen, so maybe "full sun" in your area isn't the best place for them!

That's what I was thinking, why I asked if they need full sun to bloom. Maybe I'll try a few here and there, different locations. See what works, if anything.
I had a gardenweb friend who grew them in eastern WA, somewhere near Spokane. Hers seemed to bloom most of the summer. And she said her summers were hot and dry.
That's my general neck of the woods. We're just 40 miles north of Spokane. Gets pretty nasty for about 3 weeks in July/August, and it's definitely DRY! I have to water my pots morning and night.

You could direct seed them into a container, then move it to the best location depending on the weather.
They definitely do not like to be transplanted. I grow them in part sun and part shade positions.
Poppies are about the only thing I haven't had much luck with transplanting. But with a big enough clump, some of them are bound to make it! And I'm going to try starting these Godetia in pots, too. We shall see how they fare! Ha! With something like 10,000 seeds in the packet (as advertised), I should have plenty to experiment with!

I grew one once, don't remember if I had another name for it, other than clarkia. Might have been clarkia elegans??? But it wasn't this godetia amoena.
