@alestv Leslie and myself made our trip to the 60 year old iris field in Winston-Salem, NC. I was able to take several on-the -go pics as we marched from the bottom to the top of the 3 acre field. The best parts were catching up with each other, walking the crazy rows, and taking home several older and a few modern form varieties.

Looks really good. Much better looking st the start of bloom season rather than the end of the season. It was ratty looking two years ago.

Oh there are plenty of weedy patches, but the daisies weren't as tall and many sections were more accessible because of that. Think we walked all the rows without obstructions this time.

Gabe's picture above is only the lower half of the garden BTW.

Listed as Savannah Sunrise. I think it's Savannah Sunset though. This is something you'll run into there.

I told Gabe earlier today that I was so happy that I bought Java Dove after seeing it again in his pictures. It cost an arm and a leg ($2.00) and is worth every penny! Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

This should be Lotte Lembrich (located at 3 - 3, Frivolous is 3-3A). To quote from the AIS: " From Easy Breeze Gardens catalog, 1956: LOTTIE LEMBRICH (Lapham '51) 37". Color of old fashioned lilacs with deeper falls and tangerine beard. Clean and smooth." Note the catalog has it spelled wrong, it was registered as Lotte.

Thelma spelled it wrong. It is Mojave Moods. Again from the AIS: " Mojave Moods' (Mrs. F. Pond, R. 1974). Seedling# P65-3-22. TB, 40" (102 cm), Midseason bloom. Standards lavender-butterscotch; falls butterscotch; light gold beard; laced. 'Rainbow Gold' X 'Laura's Choice'. "

And I want to give a huge shout out to HIPS for having a location map of Thelma's! I tip my hat to you. I tip my hat to you. I tip my hat to you. Note though that it will need to be revised since they are moving some rows because of road widening.

Greg - those with number designations like 3A are ones moved up from down near the road. There are several now where there is a (for example) 2 and a 2A.

Wow, Gabe. You must have had a grand time strolling through Thelma's iris field. Your photos are great.
Thro' all the tumult and the strife I hear the music ringing; It finds an echo in my soul— How can I keep from singing?
