SoCalGardenNut, your cucumber plants are so much bigger than mine. Did you start yours indoors?
One has to do more than just read. They have to investigate and think for themselves.

No I bought it from the farmers market, it was about a foot when I bought it. The cucumber plants that I started from scratch are only about a foot tall now.

Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

I must say I have never pollinated cucumbers. I know it is pretty much the same as doing squash. But never needed to do any pollination's as the bees take care of the cucumbers here nicely.

If i had to pollinate things I would just grow root vegetables. Rolling on the floor laughing !
I have flowers in my vegetable garden to entice my neighbor's bees. They do the work.

The bees are doing it too, but I like to think I'm helping them.

My cukes have finally started growing again- still waiting blooms, so no helping at the moment. With luck I can get the deer that hit the garden this morning to stay away from them- if it quits raining again...

My garden store cucumbers are doing alright, I put them in the ground yesterday since we're having nice weather for a while. I still had my seed starter tray going in my closet, checked it out today and several of the last handful of Early Fortune seeds had sprouted. I put them in a very big plastic pot outside and still trying to find a place to put them, but I'll find something I'm sure. I might end up with a lot of cucumbers if I can manage to not kill these things this time.

My cucumber plants are so slow growing. I keep waiting for them to take off. But little buggers are still runts. Our nights are still in the high fifties to mid-sixties. Way cooler than normal for this time of year.

My cucumber plants from seeds are slowly taking off. But the weather here is lousy too.

I have planted:
Lemon apple
Spacemaster
Straight 8
National Pickling

Direct sown. Hope they dont wash out. Soooo much rain. I have raised beds so it isn't as bad as it could be. Weeded walkways this morning. Rain does make that job easier! I will miss this rain in July.

With the recent last 2 weeks, mu cukes- especially the Munchers- are now growing good and may be about to put out a bloom- if I can keep ahead of the cutworms and cuke beetles.

My own self sown cucumber plants are finally taking off. I will have to rearrange some of the tomato plants in this bed to make room for its growth.

Looking good SoCalGardenNut. Wish my cucumbers look like that.

If mine do not start getting better soon. I transplant them into pots. At which point I will either plant something else there or buy some cucumber plants at one of our local nurseries. I had cucumber plant backup plants and I pulled them instead of potting them. Man was that a mistake. D'Oh!

I was so tempted to get seeds or plants in last week but no time to. And glad I didn't as we just had a couple nights below 50 and about 2 inches cold rain last weekend. But next Sunday if it stays warm, will plant pickle cuke seeds. Crossing Fingers!
Plant it and they will come.

Yup, cuke seeds don't much like the cold soil. Mine are not planted yet.

My husband just put up a trellis for the cucumber plants. One looks like it wants to go higher. But we are running out of woods, so tomorrow we will have to go to Home Deport to pick up more woods.

My cucumbers are sad looking. If they do not show increased signs of vigor within the next few days they are history. Thumbs down

Do they grow well in your area? I will pull out the burpless cucumber plant. I'm waiting until the other 2 cucumber plants take off first. I saw baby cukes, not fertilized yet.
