I set up a store with my fav orchid books, etc. this AM. http://astore.amazon.com/anorc...
Now to water the plants themselves. Thinking about when I can get to the Smith Bulb Show and in 2 weeks is the Nutmeg Orchid Society Show in CT, the last of my local shows. Hope Jim keeps the buying shoes! What's everyone doing today?

I fertilized my orchids this morning. Pretty much flooded everything. They are better happy!

Lazy day here, warm and windy with a cold front on the way. Temps tomorrow will be 20 degrees colder which will be refreshing as it is 83 right now. I managed to mist and fertilize the orchids and move the new babies into their permanent home. I also sprayed a bit of Bayer 3 in 1 as I noticed soome ants working and that is a sign they are farming aphids. Here is a pic of the Dendrobium spectabile plant with a yard stick just for grins.

Just an update on Lc Fire Dance 'Patricia', it still has a bunch of spikes to go, but already it puts on a nice show! ( My second plant is about half open)

If you look at the second picture, you can see a second plant of Slc Patricia Taaffe 'Neptune', the color in that picture is pretty accurate. It is the typical color shade between plum, violet and red, which is so hard to capture.

What a beautiful plant, Ursula. Just wonderful.

My Cattleya maxima opened a single bloom yesterday.

I am doing this in two parts because I spent a lot of time trying to do it together and lost everything when an upload went into an infinite loop. Frustrating!

My new Gongora smaug (Gon. clavidora X pterodactyl) has opened a bit more. You can really make out the pterodactyls.

Potinara Hoku Gem 'Freckles' opens dark and then reverts to yellow. The first picture is from a week ago and the other two were taken today.

Dendrobium smilliae has opened a bit more and there is not a hint of pink on it. I do believe it is the alba form.

Loving the Show! Lovey dubby
Jim, I believe you are correct regarding the Den smilliae, mine has a bit of pink.
Nice colors on the 'Freckles'. I definitely need to look for some Gongoras at the upcoming SEPOS. You and Kathy have really cool blooms there!
Love the Den nobiles!

Carol, I have the 'Patricia' in a 12 inch diameter wire basket lined with coconut fiber. This Orchid always grows in all directions/adds growths every year within the clump, not just in one or two directions. So it really fills out the basket with very tightly spaced growths.

Thanks, Ursula. I had high hopes fro Fire dance X nodosa, but it is too crowded and I'm only getting 3 spikes, all on one side this year. Guess I need to repot.

I'll post these before the wind does any more damage to them. Coelogyne 'cristata' takes the cold, but it needs humidity, which we haven't had. It blasted a lot of buds, and some whole spikes dried up. Now it's in the orchid shack, where I have some control, and recovering nicely.

Zygo 'psycho' is just starting to bloom on the porch, NPP 'Kathleen' is the newest one and will wait for spring to join the others out side, and Zygo. redvale 'Fire Kiss' has been putting out one spike at a time all winter. It got slightly fried when the 90 degree winds hit the past two days, so it looks pretty bad.

Ursula your 'Patricia' is a spectacle...it looks fake...it's so perfect..like what you would see in
an expensive hotel lobby...gosh, I hope mine looks half as good when it grows up!
Jim , your 'Freckles' is adorable and the alba Psychopsis is a beauty! Those prehistoric flowers are
certainly in the 'wild and different ' catagory!
Carol...nice group you have there...love the combo in the second photo! Nice!
