In previous years any Baptistonia echinata would put on a spectacular show for me and then always just about kick the bucket( or DIMP outright). It takes me years to get some pieces back to blooming size again. This year the growths were not yet particular large, so I am happy to actually see some blooms already. And maybe the plant might even survive a little better this time. Another plant of mine is also recovering.
I was going to wait until the Lc Fire Dance 'Patricia' plants are totally open before posting the final pictures of 'Pat's season. But, I see a couple of blooms on the larger plant showing signs of aging and there are still a couple more spikes to go. So here are now both plants, get out the sunglasses!
Smaller plant in the living room -
And one more time the larger plant in the greenhouse -

Both beautiful, Jim. Does you're Zygo X have a scent? I thought my 'psycho' didn't, but after a couple of days, it does. My dens are sulking this year. Only two in bud, so far. Sure hope our wierd weather stabilizes this year!
Ursula, You are obviousely doing everything right with ' Patricia'! I'm still learning from you! I'll cut my Firedance X nodosa out of it's basket , when it's done blooming, and see if i can get it somewhere close to ' Patricia'. I'm still trying to get a handle on how crowded they like to be.
Jim whats a Bollopetalum? do you think mines the same?...
I still have Den. emerald open, its been open for ages and the flowers just don't seem like there going to ever wilt and they've smell beautiful this whole time...
One flower of P. Prim 'n' Proper is just hanging in there, the other Paphs have finished..
Rhyntonleya Rosellas Little Leopard is looking and smelling nice..
I do love the Bollopetalums, are they a bit easier to grow than Bolleas or Zygos? Bolleas are ok for a season or two in my hands, then they decline. I don't do that much better with Zygos either.
Bree, nice Show! I didn't realize this Dendrobium is fragrant, what a bonus!
