Who else is going to be under the gun in those areas? This could potentially affect DC too with the amount of rainfall potential.

Our governor just ordered an evacuation, effective tomorrow at noon, for the entire coast of SC. I am a bit flummoxed, I don't have time for this. The due diligence on the house is time sensitive and I am not sure what happens if we have to cancel the inspection later this week because we will all be off somewhere.

Alice, I think a gubernatorial evacuation order takes precedence over the house inspection. Get with your realtor. I would bet the buyers would prefer an inspection AFTERwards anyway. I know I would if I were buying.

Remember, the leading cause of deaths from hurricanes is WATER not wind. Flooding is going to be tremendous with this hurricane. She's slated to sit there for 4 days dumping & dumping & dumping massive amounts of water folks. Remember Harvey? Don't be a victim!

Ann, I agree I would want a later inspection also but it is a contractual issue from the buyer's bank. It has to do with their financing. We have a call into our realtor to try and reschedule but everyone is going nuts here, no one expected this mass evacuation, islands sure but everyone? Every county along the coast means over a million people on only a handful of roads.

We will head out to Jacksonville but not until Wednesday.

Well I can't help but think the bank will make allowances but IF they don't then the buyers will find another bank to finance it.
These are mandatory evacuation orders by the Governor & goes into effect @ noon tomorrow. I don't see how the bank can possibly justify wanting anyone to defy these orders.

A state of emergency has been declared for SC, NC, VA & Maryland.

I think we just got the last hotel room In Jacksonville. It was crazy.

They are trying to move the home inspection up to tomorrow. If, by chance, the house was damaged in the storm they could legally back out anyway, so there is no reason to hold off the inspection. We just need to get the paperwork done.

Last year the governor issued a mandatory evac and we all left then he lifted the order a day later - after we were already holed up in hotels. This time we are waiting a day to see what happens. We still have time to get out of dodge if necessary.

Yes, jax, fl. That is where we will be moving if we ever get out of here. The realtor is trying to reschedule the inspection, they don't want anything to rock the financing boat.
