Hello everyone - I've been told this is the place to be! Smiling I've been a member here for quite a while, but I haven't joined in much until just this year. I've finally found time to follow along on several threads and even figured out what the acorns are all about! Rolling on the floor laughing At the risk of being grouped in with other "Hem o roids", I'll have to admit that I've caught the hybridizing bug and have my second small set of seedlings growing this year. I'll try to post photos of any that I think you might like.

I live in Missouri on a good sized farm, belong the MOKAN AHS local out of Kansas City and am a total Hem-Head! I work full time, so hybridizing is a part-time edeavor, but it consumes nearly all my attention, for sure. My area doesn't have many active hybridizers, so I'll be hovering around here meeting folks and watching over shoulders trying to learn as I go. You seem like a good group to hang out with. Hurray!

I'm glad to meet all of you. Group hug

Aha! The hybridizing bug. Nothing like it!

What kind of goals do you have in hybridizing? What are you hoping for? What plants are you using for parents?

Inquiring minds, and all that...

Welcome Jill!! If it were not for hybridizing, I would not be as interested in daylilies. I might have 20 instead of as many as I do. I hang on to some plants just because they were such good parents or have some characteristic or another.

Smiling Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm chasing metallic edges. I don't know if others have tried or not, but if those glittery edges could just be a bit wider, I think they would be wonderful! Drooling

Several of the Stamile plants show a glittery edge, Boundless Beauty and Victorian Lace seem to throw those edges quite a bit, and I have a seedling or two I'll use with them. I just got one called Gripping Power that is unrelated to the Stamile ones, so it will be used as much as I can this summer for a bit of extra genetics. If you all know of others, or if you know of any reason to believe it is a goose chase to try for wider metallic edges, speak up and let me know. I love input.

Hurray!

Jill, you might want to check this old thread. I **love** Lovey dubby Lovey dubby Lovey dubby glitter edges, but don't like regular yellow chicken fat stuff. We talked about glitter and there are some photos etc.

Hi , my name is Linda and I have been lurking around here for a while. Green Grin! I live in hot Arizona but spent my early childhood in Michigan where as a child I loved to garden . Thumbs up I continued that love here in Arizona but it is much more difficult for sure.

I do most of my gardening in pots which I have a varying number usually between 200-300 pots in which I grow a variety of things. I was never really interested in daylilies, other then the one Stella d' Oro I had. I thought they were kind of boring because the flower only lasted a day. Well, I have changed my opinion on that since I got to know Margaret my dear Canadian friend who shared with me a bunch of seeds she had hybridized. It has been over a year and the plants are now blooming. Because I am on slow dial-up I will just post one of the currently blooming dayllies. This is Back Eye X Chicago Silver. Just gorgeous !

I think I am falling in love with daylilies ! Rolling on the floor laughing

Welcome!

Careful, Linda.... daylily love starts out soft and gentle, full of pretty flowers.... next thing you know, WHAM! You're addicted, and spend all your time, energy and money dreaming of daylilies, looking for daylilies, building new homes for daylilies....

As addictions go, it's fairly benign, but it's still an addiction (except for me, of course, I can stop anytime I want, if I wanted to stop) Whistling
