Fine Gardening Magazine asked me to use a photo of a plant in my garden, because they want to publish it in their magazine.
I don't mind that, but I want to keep the copyright and I want them to mention my name. And I also want a copy of the magazine with the photo.
I don't know anything about USA rules concerning this.
How do Americans react on a request like this?
Here in Europe we are always afraid of the US legal systems, don't want to have problems in the future.
You can tell them that, while you retain all rights to your image, you will grant them permission to use your image as long as they provide credit to you and provide you with a printed copy of the magazine issue as evidence of their compliance.
Demand the credit is attributed this way:
"Image provided by Jonna So-and-so. Used with permission."

I like Fine Gardening but haven't read it for quite awhile. I think I'll have the library get it in for me, a lot of the magazines are not here in our small branch so they order in from another branch.

My husband makes things with wood and minerals, all natural, maybe they will be interested. Must make pictures to see if they are interested.
A few times per week I'm uploading photo's and data. Just about 5 plants per day. I follow the alphabet. Now working on plants starting with the letter 'D', so the Lysimachia will have to wait until it's her or his turn
