That is a shame about the Euphorbias with the tassels. Sad ...Tassels are so cool. LOL.

I don't have any problem with euphorbias coming back, but I'm in Zone 8. I'll see if @lauribob will weigh in - she is in a much cooler zone than I and she has good luck with some euphorbias.

The only BonFires that returned were the ones planted in full sun all day.The other 4 just fainted out with poor growth and lanky stems even at the start of the season.

@citysylvia I am in the Pacific Northwest Zone 8, temperate and rainy. We don't get extreme heat in the summer, nor extreme cold in the winter. I see you are in Texas which is a huge state and I am unfamiliar with its weather patterns. It does seem from folks chatting on this site that the summers are much more intense than I see and drought can be a problem. I will be visiting my sister @lauribob this weekend, who lives in eastern Washington, much more severe than me both in summer heat, low rainfall, and winter cold and she grows euphorbias. I will try to get some varieties she has had good luck with, which may work well for you. Or she may chime in here.

Deb, O was just jacking with you, I know the difference. I would give anything to move north. Portland, Washington, Vermont. If only I was about 20 years younger. Smiling I wish I had stayed in Connecticut!. I never took gardening serious until I moved to Texas. Sticking tongue out

I have Euphorbia bonfire. It is fighting for its life. I have to move it. I like Euphorbia but most are not very hardy for my climate.

I'm zone 6b and I haven't had trouble with the few I have. My neighbor has a few too and no problems. The only one I know the name of is Ascott's Rainbow. I love it so much I got another this year.

I have ordered from Bluestone Perennials but have been reading so many negative reviews lately. Are you having good luck with their plants.

I had better luck before they went to the coir pots.
I take advantage of the late spring sale but the losses make the plants retail price as I dont follow up with a demand for replacement.
I figure at that time of year the plants are season weary so why would I want more that may fail.
I am arthritic and digging holes comes at a premium.

I have always had excellent product and service from Bluestone. As soon as my plants arrive I take them out of the coir pot and pot them up in gallon pots until I am ready to plant them out. I ALWAYS get rid of the coir pot!

The plants they sell in the fall are not the same plants offered in the spring. They are "new crop". Hence the spring clearance sale.

I live close enough (well 4 hours! LOL) that I usually go to the nursery once a year. I get to pick and choose the plants then. Hilarious!

They have always replanced any plants that failed, no questions asked!

Blackbird is a beauty. I had one a few years ago but it didn't come back in Spring. On a brite note Ascot Rainbow, which took a beating last winter, is finally rebounding nicely.
