That's exactly what Hank said - one bird today - he/she just wouldn't leave. The little thing was soaked and just playing and having a wonderful time. There were several birds waiting. Finally one just jumped in and join him Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

I was glad to learn Mod Poge makes an "Outdoor" formula. I use that stuff all the time. It's my fave. When I decoupage or paint rocks I want something for outdoors as well. Happy to know about that!

So I googled it and
http://www.modpodgerocksblog.c...
it said this:

Is Mod Podge waterproof when dry?

No. Mod Podge is waterbase and acrylic, which is great because that means it’s non-toxic. You can use it with your children without fear. But all these things mean that it’s not totally waterproof. Even Mod Podge Outdoor is only highly water-resistant. If you want to make your project waterproof, I recommend a clear, outdoor (or Enamel) acrylic sealer when your project is complete. Make sure that the final layer of Mod Podge is completely dry before spraying.

Well, thanks for that info. Sigh!

I gave a friend a decoupaged rock a couple of years ago and it was just sealed with the regular type Mod Pog. She put it out in her garden and left it over winter and under snow. Lots of melting snow. I think this is year three. She says it's fine so far. So I hope the "outdoors" Mod Poge is even better.

I have been sealing with clear spray acrylic sealer or Helmsman branc Spar Urethane (good stuff). But it would be nice to do it all in one swoop. Decoupage and seal for outdoors. Well, maybe they'll work on that.
I garden for the pollinators.

Tee, I think it all depends on the surface that is being sealed. Sometimes sealers adhere better to a porous surface than to one that is smooth. It's like painting with acrylics on china. The china is a sealed solid surface and as soon as the acrylics are dry, you can peel the whole thing off in one swift peel. But if you paint acrylic on a rock, the surface is rough and porous, so the acrylic gets down into it and holds on. Same with sealers. Just my guess.

OMG am I having trouble with quotes this morning!

I had tried to add to that quote that I googled the product and I found on

That it said this:

I'll have to dig around in the paint out in the garage.

I'm sure dh bought it at an automotive supply. It was for one of the cars the girls wrecked way back in the day and he painted and finished it himself as it wasn't necessary to have a "pretty" fix.

I'll look after bit and let you know.

I think you could be right, Sharon. There seems to be a lot of varying results with rocks.

I do like the Helmsman Spar Urethane spray ... that's the stuff they use to seal wood on boats, ships, and vessels that live in the water. It definitely keeps out water.

Vic, don't break your neck looking for it.
I think I like SOng of Joy's suggestion the best, now that I finally noticed it.

I didn't know that kind of thing came in a spray.
Was already going to try to brush seal wood with marine varnish for the garden.
I'll get a can of spray while I'm at it.
