It's easy for me to laugh, I have no snow!

My mother who is near Traverse City, Michigan said they got about 7" on Tuesday.

That would be a good place to be from and not at. I just can't handle cold and snow anymore. Didn't used to bother me. Shrug!

I know. I have been down here two years now and I am such a baby about the cold now. I guess it's just that getting older thing. Hilarious!

I used to work out in it all day when I was younger. Wouldn't survive it now. Crying

Yes. I rode for a cattle company in Eastern WA part time, milked for a dairy 6 days a week, calving pens and barn at another dairy 6 days a week. And my own milking, feeding, watering and anything else that needed doing. The cold just didn't bother me then. I would keel over dead in 15 minutes now, if not from the cold it would be from lack of sleep.

Wow! That's a hard job(s)! I am only getting a physical job now that I'm sort of retired, but not that hard. I was complaining because my son asked me to milk the one goat on the days that he has to be out of town, on top of my own work of the garden. At least with the garden I can set my hours, with milking you can't. And I have actually been thankful it's been cold because they are leaving the kids in with Rosa so we don't have to milk then. Did she just freshen?
I love milking goats, even in the cold. I just loved my goats. For several years I was milking 52 twice a day. We never left the kids on the does.
The dairy I worked for had Jersey cows. The dairy I did the calving pens and calf barn was Holstein cows.

Yes. I am new to goats, as is my son. So freshen means come into milk, right?

If you don't let the kids in the does, do you bottle feed or what?

Really, this is a learning process for all of us.

We only have three females and one male. Well, Rosa had two females in Feb. and Bambi had a male in Mar. But Bambi is dwarf Nigerian and Matt would like to only raise Nubians now so he is planning on selling her but she is not registered.

So you see, we are SMALL...just to have milk for family, I guess.

We bottle fed them. Their milk is wonderful, and they are so easy to milk. Nubians are noted for having the highest butterfat content. We had French Alpines and a couple of Toggenburgs. Lots of milk with a little lower butterfat than Nubians.

Oh, poor Phil. We all make mistakes now and again. I think they should give him a reprieve, or throw it out of court if it makes it that far. Whistling
