Welcome! Hi Vicki. Nice plants and yes they really do become addictive. Big Grin

Charleen, you always know how to turn tragedy into beauty. I love what you did with that broken pot. Lovey dubby

Tabby that plant on the right is definitely not Pink Pearl, even in the shade mine is not solid green at any time of the year. But it is a lovely plant. Smiling

Tabby, more photos to drool over. They are all lovely. You all are making me miss my semp babies. Sad

Tabby, I agree with you. The plant on the left is a calcareum and the one on the right is likely a tectorum hybrid.

Love the pics and welcome everybody.

Hi Ves, glad to see you join us here! Big Grin Do you have a big collection of semps already? I love the beautiful rocks you have by them too.

Tabby, nice pictures! I really need to get out there and get updated pictures one of these days. So much to do, so little time. Whistling

This webby NOID is one of the most prolific semps I have.

I have a webby NOID that is wonderful like that. I've had it in a large low hypertufa pot for about 20 years. Wish I knew the name of it. I really like that red one in the center. That's a nice mix of varieties.

Thank you, Tabby.

NOIDs all, no idea what the red is.

Some I may be able to ID, if I have the time.
I do have about 36 names that when I bought them I did not tag the little devils with, back in the day. Confused

Pretty pot full Janice! I've always like the webby ones and that's a nice big one. I think we all have that assortment of NOIDS around. Hilarious!

I agree I have a few of those NOIDS, one in particular I am so sorry I did not keep records on, from many years ago.

Love that webby one Janice, the webbing is wonderful.

I had the most wonderful time today meeting Tabby for the first time. What a fun and interesting person. Wish I lived closer. Her yards are amazing. I could have spent all day there looking are her plants and visiting with her two sweet little 15 year old chickens. Another treasured memory to take home with me. Lovey dubby

Tomorrow I will get to meet up with Tabby again and Sandi and Audrie for the first time at the Denver Botanical Gardens.
What a day that will be for me. Looking forward to the Rock Garden Clubs plant sale. Thumbs up

What say we all post our noids in the ID forum and see if we can make honest plants of them?

While chilly and windy, it was a wonderful day today. I got to walk around Timberline and look at all sorts of semps, iceplants, orostachys and other interesting plants with Lynn. It's very easy to kill quite a bit of time there and is especially fun to go with a kindred spirit. I don't know very many people I can talk "semp" with. Smiling

I do wish we lived closer. Oh what fun you're going to have when you meet Sandi!

Tomorrow we'll have even more fun with Sandi and Audrie. Four of us together talking about and shopping for the plants we love!!!

I may even get to pick up my new semps and jovibarbas from Sandi.
(BTW, she still has plenty to get rid of)

Critter, If you do that, the temptation to assign a name will be so hard to resist. It is difficult to resist, but what happens to our collections and the hobby if we cannot trust the names given to our plants? It is like owning that old, original IBM PC that is in perfect working condition, but no longer runs any good software. It's operating system is so old that it does not get any more security updates and is thus dangerous to operate, risking all of your data to the unscrupulous. You know you should throw it out and get a modern system, but it works perfectly.... Crying We must resist, for the betterment of the hobby. "If you lose the tag, you lose the ID" is the rule I live by which applies to any plant that I do not know, for sure, what its name is.

What I do is assign a "placeholder" name until I can (IF I can) find out its original name.
For semps, I have Virginia's NOID, Sandy's noids 1-3, traded noid, and Michigan Bulb NOID.

I have similar ids for daylilies and irises.
And I have "Nana's veronica" (but not my nana) and "Chris's grandmother's bulbs".

Whwn I have photos to post, I'll see if I can put their real names on them.

Critter, unfortunately it is pretty much impossible to ID an semp with certainty once the ID has been lost. There are a very few that can be positively ID. Oddity, Fuzzy Wussy, Monstrose and a few others. Even with Oddity there is one that looks almost identical to it, called Grigg's Surprise. Unless you are growing them side by side it can be difficult to tell the difference. : )

It was very interesting to see them growing near each other in Tabby's garden. I got to see first hand that there really is a difference in them. One looking to be a calcareum type and the other a tectorum type semp. Fascinating to say the least.

Just catching up on postings here at ATP them headed out to meet up with Tabby, Sandi and Audrie. Hurray!
