I guess I may be getting some more tulips in the fall Rita. I wonder if it is true that squirrels dig them up and move them. Have you ever known that to be the case??
Squirrels here leave them alone. The bulbs just fade out by themselves, no help from squirrels required. If you want truely stunning tulip displays I guess you have to dig em up after bloom and replant or just keep adding new. I was told to plant deep and that really does help. Also besides the darwin tulips try tulips from the early group. My early single mix from Scheepers is on the second spring and has had very good return this year. I did take peoples advice and planted all those tulips deep. 10 inches deep to help them keep coming up. But still, I am definately going to be adding lots and lots more tulips this fall.
Well, it is deep. I don't know that you have to plant that deep. But I always was having such bad luck with no return on tulips that I was told to try very deep. So I figgured why not and I tried it.
Had to post another pic of flowers, but not the usual kind, lol. Yesterday was my birthday and my daughter got me a cake that has sweet peas on it. Notice the frosting peas. I thought it was so unique, lol.
Thanks Shirlee. I bought them many years ago, I think from Brecks. I used to have some yellow ones but I don't see them coming up. Hope they didn't croak. If they eventually bloom I will post more pics.
