Thanks Margaret!!! It is cool and dreary here today. I did go out and sprinkle some fertilizer on the daylilies because we are supposed to get some rain. I also dug out a few clumps of garlic that have invaded my beds. After being out for about 45 minutes I was froze, so no more work outside today.
Thanks Jan!!! I want to take some pics of the tulips but because the sun hasn't shone in about 3 days, none of them are opening up. Will have to just be patient and wait for the sun to show its face again. Hopefully soon!!!
Sounds good. I just love my spring tulips. Only thing I don't like about tulips is that you always have to plant new ones every few years as they just die out. Well, I do wish tulip season would last longer but what can you do.

Rita, maybe it has to do with your zone, there were tulips here when we bought the place, I added to them, they were here about 10 years and still going strong until I dug them up last year.
Tulips that area longer living are the 'Darwin type' Tulips. Some of them are huge! So those are the ones that I invest in. The fancy ones are the ones that seem to shine or just a year or two and I have given up on them.
Looking forward to seeing what you have!
Our seasonly cool weather is back and has delayed our blooms. Well, not delayed, but delayed in respect to how fast everything was popping with the unseasonally warm week!
I agree Lilylady. The Darwins are the best. I used to have over a hundred tulips and most of them have died out through the years. Only the Darwins remain. I have a few of the Lily type tulips also.
I do have tulips around the garden that I have had for more than ten years. But those are not a large number of tulips. Not this past fall but the year prior I planted almost 600 tulips. Those were stunning last spring and had good return this spring. The early tulips and the darwins. Some other fancy types I tried did not come up this thier second year. Plus I did plant deeply as I was told that really helps if you want them to always come back. This fall I intend to plant tulips heavily again so we will see what kind of on going sucess I have.
Those tulips are very pretty and so are the daffs. Honestly, I don't know what I would do without the spring daffs. They really cheer up the early garden.
