add dish soap to the water...they "should" not only boil, but also suffocate.

There's some concern about buddleia harming some butterflies by "confusing" them. Apparently, they mistakenly lay eggs there instead of on the plants that they should. I like to also plant lots of aesclepias tuberosa That's the host plant for Monarch caterpillars.

No, I doubt it. The seedling was in the exact area where the MG's grew.

Birds have given us a great white bleeding heart and several other plants so I'm thankful to them.

My wish list to get rid of...one main thing: creeping bellflower. Been digging it out for 10 years. Ugh.
I was reading through this whole chain and saw some discussion about black walnut trees. I have some and grow quite a few things under and near it. For example, hosta, heuchera, tiarella, astilbe, astrantia, anemone, daylilies, sedum, clematis, hydrangea, Jacob's ladder, violets, goat's beard, toad lilies, primrose, amsonia, Solomon's seal, cranesbills, lady's mantle, bleeding hearts, jack-in-the-pulpit, woodland phlox, ferns, bishop's weed, brunnera, and barberry. Also green beans. The only things I planted there that absolutely did not work were tomatoes, baptisia, rodgersia and rhododendron.

We have a type of Bamboo tuber that is everywhere here in upstate NY. I dont want to spray it to kill, but nothing kills it. Ive been told that it was planted in 1800s to hid the outhouses. Damn outdoor plumbing...
My driveway is blocking a field that I have been fighting for 30 years. On the other hand, reading some of the pests that others have I feel lucky. Do rocks count??

My biggest rural offenders are:

1. Johnson grass

2. Yellow nutsedge (aka nut grass)

3. Everything else not intentionally planted

I've made a little head-way in fighting the nutsedge (in planting beds) but the Johnson grass is still thriving in my garden space. I plan a couple of "kill and till" sessions before winter. I doubt I'll ever completely eradicate it with the methods I've attempted to date. I guess I'm a glutton for punishment? Sticking tongue out
