Starlings, starlings, starlings! I hate them. I lost a treasured daylily baby to them last year. One came along and plucked the newly planted thing right out of the ground in front of me. They have destroyed the top of our cinder block wall by pulling the rocks out of the concrete top and making nests inside the cinder block. They can mob a feeder and clean it out in minutes chasing the other birds away.

Not fond of starlings, myself.
But I love my buttercups!
I dig them where I don't like them and relocate them to where I do.

I know it's impossible to grow anything under a black walnut tree, but I also know a cookie with them in it - and I love the cookie! IF I ever have an acre, I'll have a tree in one corner.

yes... Black walnut... They are increasingly rare... Finding producing trees in my area is like that expression about poultry and teeth.

Black walnut's reputation is largely undeserved... Plenty of plants will thrive in it's root zone...

rhododendron also has an allelopathic effect on the plants nearby... is anyone gonna declare war on it?

Hmmm...

Let's declare war on turf... That stuff is a terrible offender...

I love our black walnut trees. I agree but most people don't feel that way. I will probably have a number of little black walnut trees as the squirrels endlessly plant nuts in my planters and around the yard. I'll keep an eye out once the weather warms and see what I might be able to send you.

Most people fail to look past the hype...

Not sure that walnuts would survive being moved after they've leaved out...

Mulberries... they ain't.

Easy to dig out of pots although they are very deep rooted. I was going to say they are tough as nuts but that's redundant, isn't it. Just let me know if you'd like some.
