It wouldn't be that hard to do, especially for some of us who live in Texas and have oak trees. And surely someone has a truck.

@tx_flower_child I could contribute a bunch because we have lots of oak trees but would have to borrow someone's pick-up as we don't have one.

We could fit 80 yards of acorns in a 53 foot trailer.... You gather 'em up in a big pile first though.

Okay, I can go up on the hill above our place and start gathering. Who is going to stop to get them?

That's great, Lynn. When Rob comes around with his trailer you can just roll those acorns down hill and bingo!

So glad you said that. I'm starting to see acorns and it seems very early for that around here. They're very small and still green which worries me and probably frustrates the squirrels. Hope my oaks are ok.

I think that would be pretty hilarious... I don't have any oak trees but would gladly go scrounge up a pickup load of them for the "cause". Rolling on the floor laughing

I doubt it, Lynn.

The boys are back on cactus and greenhouse forum, guess I would limit a new member to only 1 post per day for awhile.

There are now pages and pages of spam posts on the new threads. This is becoming incredibly tiresome and affecting my future participation in this site.

The good thing is that Dave et all is able to efficiently and quickly eliminate the offenders, it seems like they are taking it as a challenge since Dave is so good at the elimination.

That was my thought, too. When Dave put limits on the number of thread starts for new members, these people signed up new member accounts and then waited until the account was no longer considered new--or it looks to me like that's what happened overnight, anyway...

@kniphofia
Sue, I hear you on the quantity and I agree with you that it is, indeed, tiresome. I hope the frustration level is low enough to give Dave more time for defense before making that participation decision. You are one of the best of us. Smiling

I've been working on the coding to limit the amount of threads a new person can post. I have to proceed with some caution lest I damage the experience of "real" or legitimate new members. It's a delicate balancing act.

My plan is to push my code update tomorrow. It'll mean that members can only post a few threads per day until a certain set of things happen.

After that code update, we'll need to be sure to continue to flag each and every spam we see. Since there won't be hundreds of spams posted, there will be fewer reports. We need lots of reports for the system to take action.

I think the situation will be mostly resolved by tomorrow evening.
