Thank you for the link - I hit the red button.

What happened to the cloud flare thingy that was checking us when we come to NGA?

Regarding Cloud Flare, my guess would be that the site is no longer under sustained attack and so Cloud Flare's threat detection is no longer on high alert (so isn't checking everyone's browser when they connect to the site).

What never ceases to amaze me is that the spammers actually think it worth it to sign up and post such "ads" here. They can't post links and it's painfully obvious that it's a scam - if one was looking for fake language tests/certification, for example, a gardening site is not where I think one would start! Also, the vast majority of members here are fluent in English, so they're not even targeting the right demographic.

My apologies, I feel my prior response was a bit abrupt. I contribute a lot to this site - photos, data, comments. I use the database extensively. I maintain a personal plant list. I enjoy the forums. I could care less about the nuts. I'm ambivalent about the knowledge base inherited from the prior owners, but understand we are still in a transition. I feel no obligation to police the spam, seems like that is the owners' responsibility. I enjoy lively discourse. I abhor the idea that one can 'tattle' on someone for a comment they disagree with. But.. I've seen a lot of threads just shut down for no apparent reason (that I can tell).

So, no, I don't use the red button.

The red button is fully optional of course, it's just another way to deliver feedback. I like it and use it on occasion.

Reminds me of what video gamers call spray and pray. Letting loose a great number of projectiles in the general direction of the target, in the hopes that a tiny fraction of them will hit. I like what Wikipedia notes about the practice: "This is especially prevalent amongst those without benefit of proper training." Smiling Very inefficient, very inexpert.
