Fred , looks like you've got a real orchid show there! That yellow next to the dark purple is almost shocking!
Ursula, I am in love with that vanda...just beautiful
Schomburgkia Wellesley is now staked and starting to open. Thirteen buds!!
Miltonia Anne Warne has a new spike. It was in bloom most of the summer.
Four flowers open on Coelogyne Golden Bug now with 2 buds to go and a new spike forming.
Phrag. Hanne P's getting a bit bigger.
Sigh I hate daylight savings...getting dark already.
The spot patterns on those green background petals are what makes it in balance with the bright purple shading on the front petal ( bet there's a technical term for that front petal). I like this one better than the plain green background petals that I saw in some of those pictures.
Zygopetalum is now on my 'want list'. I need to do some reading to find out if the humidity requirements are high. Not sure if I could grow it here where the summers are dry. Sure is a pretty one though.
What a difference a day makes! Schom. Wellesley.
V. Pachara Delight.
Dichea neglecta opening.
Phrag. Hanne Popow.
Phrag. Memoria Estelle Getty
New one from Lois Duffin this summer. I was getting nervous because the bud was getting dark but here is Bl. Westfieldensis. Rl. glauca x C. crispata.
Carol, thanks for the words of encouragement, I'll put Zygopetalum on my wish list
Kathy, They are all beautiful, I think my favorite in that group is: Memoria Estelle Getty. I am going to take note of your photography set up with the grey background. Is that fabric you have wrapped around a piece of Cardboard? Or Felt glued onto cardboard? Grey makes a good neutral backdrop.
Oh now I see a hose in a plastic tub back there. I've been hauling my orchids each indiviually to the kitchen sink each time I water. It's time consuming and I track a drip trail back to the dining room with each plant. Is there a better way? Do you soak yours in the tub?
Introducing Bulbophyllum vaginatum, a first time bloomer for me. It is not quite fully open yet so I'll post again when that occurs. I hear the flower only lasts for a few days so I didn't want to miss sharing. It kind of reminds me of a yellow medusae.
