Me 4! It doesn't seem like so long ago that he died. I think his comic genius was so incredibly great that it out-shined his other other abundant and note-worthy attributes, so they are seldom recognized. Hidden behind his hilarious words, if you listen closely to his voice, you can hear the kindness that wells up from deep within him. It seems that everyone who met him and worked with him loved him, and I suspect it was more due to this kind, giving nature that emanated from him like the warming rays of the Sun's glow than for his much more obvious wit. I also suspect that the kindness that flowed from him was because he suffered from depression, and thus possessed a deep understanding of pain and wished to ease the pain of others by bringing them laughter, which he was so adept at giving. He used comedy to battle his personal depression, and unfortunately, as is often the case, he used his comedic talent to hide his depression from those around him so well that no one seemed to know just how much he was suffering until it was too late.

He is sincerely missed by so many; may he rest in peace.

Never will I forget Mork and Mindy. I seldom watched TV back then but never missed a show. Mork from Ork!

A man owned a small farm near Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Iowa Labor Department got a tip that he was not paying proper wages to his help and sent an investigator out to interview him.

"I need a list of your employees and how much you pay them," demanded the investigator.

"Well," replied the farmer, "there's my farm hand who's been with me for 3 years. I pay him $1200 a week plus free room and board."

"And the cook has been here for 18 months, and I pay her $1000 per week plus free room and board."

"Anyone else? " asked the investigator

"Just the half-wit. He works about 18 hours every day, with no days off, and does about 90% of all the work around here. He makes about $10 per week and pays his own room and board."

"But, he gets a six-pack every Saturday night, and about once a month my wife takes pity on him and sleeps with him."

"That's the guy I want to talk to... the half-wit," says the investigator.

"You're talking to him," replied the farmer.

A humorous and true anecdote told by my dad:

An older neighbor from down the road stopped by to visit with my dad one day and have coffee. As they sat at the breakfast nook table, talking about gardens, tractors and other topics of country life, the discussion turned to chainsaws and chainsaw brands, a subject on which the old feller held a very strong opinion. "Those Stihl chainsaws will last you a lifetime," he claimed, "I've got my third one now!"
