"Margaret, the tree-stump fountain is attractive. Too bad it's such a pain to empty. Does that Campanula behave itself or does it seed itself everywhere? They vary quite a bit in that regard. It is pretty. I have one that is a perennial and behaves itself very well (Campanula Glomerata) and others that can become a pest if I let them. Used to have some of the biennial type with the cup and saucer, but have lost them. Too easy to weed out during the first year, I think."

Ann, I deadhead as soon as they finish blooming or I would probably have them everywhere. I have 'campanula carpatica blue, and white uniform' and 'campanula carpatica blue, and white clips', maybe some other types that I have forgotten the names of. Hilarious!

I cleaned the downstairs bathroom yesterday which was more work than walking. Today I plan to finish the family room. There is so much dust.

And it makes me feel so much better when the house is nice and clean. Smiling

I tried to get the Shigrix vaccine this morning. I tried a local Kroger and 2 different Walgreen's stores, none of which has it available. They say it's hard to get from the supplier.

Back to aquafit tomorrow, I hope. Coughing quite a bit today and I took a dose of the narcotic laced cough syrup I was prescribed a couple of weeks ago. I'd been 3 nights w/o it.

Our Thanksgiving is next Monday. Second Monday in October which is the earliest it can ever be. Not ready.

I like to hang laundry out if I can, but sometimes wrinkles can be a problem. I often start t-shirts in the dryer and then hang them out on hangers. Towels I prefer dryer-dried but my socks are fine on the line. But it was so hot last summer I didn't hang out much. The other thing working against it is our time of day billing for electricity. I'd hang out mid-day but that's also the most expensive power in summer, if I use the dryer to start things.

Wish my house were nice and clean. I DO indulge in a cleaning lady. But last week she was sick and cancelled and I just realized that the next time she would normally come if Thanksgiving Monday. So I guess I'll be 6 weeks w/o her. I think I'm gonna have to break out the vacuum cleaner.

Thanksgiving this weekend means a little extra cleaning for me this week, as my son and his wife will be visiting for a few days, it will be the last time until spring, Sad the mountain roads are just too dangerous to drive during the winter.

I indulge in a cleaning lady, too, every other week. The weeks she doesn't come, we clean. It used to be me alone, but since my husband retired, he helps a lot. We're expecting out-of-town guests this weekend, (my sister in law and her husband) too, so of course it's the cleaning girl's week off. So we have lots of cleaning to do too, as well as grocery shopping, laundry, cooking... Then all four of us are going to the Smoky Mountains for a few days, so I have to do laundry and pack, too.

My cleaning girl does a great job! She spends around 4 hours cleaning our house, and when she leaves, it's spotless. I really can't stand a dirty house. My Mother did this to me- she always made me clean when I was a kid.

My mom made me clean but instead of it sinking in, it made me rebel. I'm really bad about cleaning but when I do do it, I am very thorough. DH said I should have been a sergeant in the Navy. I think the reason I don't do it more often is because I go all out when I do do it. DH will clean some times but he isn't as thorough, like he does not dust under the legs of the t.v. or under the power cord where it lays on the t.v. stand and he rarely moves smaller objects when he dusts or vacuums but at least something gets done.

I think that the timing of Canadian Thanksgiving makes more sense. It's still the harvest season and it doesn't get crowded out by Christmas. I do like American Thanksgiving being on a Thursday. Any place my husband or I worked also gave us the Friday off and it was like that in school.

Kelli, my DH vacuums and dusts the same way, too much trouble to bend over and move stuff, Glare I am also a very thorough cleaner, too, but like you say, at least they help. I always liked doing my own cleaning, but may need a cleaning woman in the future with DH having Parkinson and me with degenerative disk disease. Sighing!

I hate house cleaning and put it off as much as possible. So really not much in the house gets done during gardening season. Means that fall and spring cleaning is a lot to do here but that is just the way that it is.

Yesterday Lily and I went for a 2 1/2 mile exercise walk. Today is really nice out again so we will see how far we go. Did some garden work too as I am still working on pulling up and bagging up the tomato plants.

I'm convinced I wasted too much of my youth cleaning my house!

I've decided I have a new cold. Probably one DH brought home from his European trip. He's been home 10 days. Didn't sleep well last night and skipped aquafit today. But I'm catching up on a lot of loose ends.

About to go out to pick up the viola bow I just had rehaired, buy some onions at a farmer's market (I'm tired of grocery store onions going soft in the middle before I use even a small bag), and deposit payments from my music students.

Ann, sorry you have another cold, hope it is short lived.

I have had a problem with onions too, especially mold under the skins that you can't see when you buy them. Angry

The Spousal Unit has bronchitis..............ALREADY................it's gonna be a long winter, but hopefully he will shake it either before, or after we get to Texas and decent weather.

It is just gorgeous out today, but quite windy. I opened all the sliders out in the sunroom to get some air moving. We took the covers off the 2 big solar collectors we have on the south side of the house and now that is running like crazy. LOL Hope it is sunny tomorrow so it runs then too as it's sposed to be 59 for a high. 82 for today. I'll be baking tomorrow for Friday's FM, so the oven will be heating the kitchen up.........probably more than what I'd like it to. Sticking tongue out

Sad I hope he feels better soon. My throat doesn't feel particularly good, but I bundled up and cut back another 30 or so hostas and doused the base of the plants with ammonia solution. Filled up a large garbage pail. I give them to city yard waste rather than composting myself to help control foliar nematodes and and other potential problems. And this year, because the back fence will be replaced, I guess I'll give a lot of other stuff to the city too as we have compost piles up against the old fence. They'll have to be dismantled. They were supposed to start on the fence last week but are behind because of weather and the after effects of the tornadoes that swept through here.

We went to the gym this morning, then out to a local sub shop for lunch. I probably undid any good things I did for myself at the gym. Hilarious!

It's early in the season for winter colds. I hope you feel better soon, Ann.

We cleaned the house this afternoon. I was cleaning the second floor when the power went off and stayed off for an hour and 20 minutes. Grumbling Without the air conditioner, the upstairs got so hot so fast! (The outside temp is 84 degrees). But the house is clean and my husband even cleaned the windows. I LOVE clean windows!

I'm too tired to cook. We're going out to eat tonight.
