Welcome Steven and Albert. I think you are the only two who have joined in on the fun since I did in March. What an interesting group of individuals you all are! Your orchids are lovely and I appreciate your sharing them with me. YOur advice has already made a world of difference, and we will not even talk about Kathy's buying shoes! Kathy, thanks for bringing me in...my orchids than you, too!

I think lurking is classified as a crime for someone of my gender and age. Confused

I don't think as harsh as that, Jim. But, I always hope or wish that those possessing more knowledge or have something interesting to share would just contribute once in while/every so often. It really doesn't have to be a huge commitment.
How does that sound?

"I think lurking is classified as a crime for someone of my gender and age."

WOW! I'm speechless!!! Hopefully, not all of these lurkers are of your gender and age:)

Have you ever thought for one second that perhaps people just don't feel comfortable enough posting on a public forum? or that they are just simply shy??? or they just don't think they know enough about orchid growing to chime in??? or they are simply just starting the hobby and are still desperately learning??? or they are just simply already so busy with life???

There could be tons of reasons why people lurk, and not posting... I was one of them, I'm a very private person, and frankly, I've seen so many negative comments on so many forums that scare me away from posting... after lurking here for a while, I thought this place is "safe", I see a lot of nice and down to earth people here, and I just commented to Kathy the other day that I feel comfortable posting here... sigh...

The way I look at it, I would be honored if people would even come and read my comments...

I, of course agree, Ursula. My comment was ment to be only humorous (old man lurking) not critical. Such is my humor.

Wow, did that ever go wrong. Once again, no criticism of anyone was intended. It was just a joke aimed at myself. Lurking can have different connotations. Sorry if anyone was offended.

I have no problem with lurkers and I'm sure they learn and enjoy as much as we do. It's those lurkers in the dark alleys that worry me.

My "lurking" is a learning experience. I have been growing for four years now, and so far, I have three of the orchids, that I started with, so theres hope. Keep posting, and I will keep learning. Mike

Welcome Mike!!! If you have any questions specific to your growing, you can ask here. http://cubits.org/orchids/thre...
How many do you have all together? (Sometimes I wish I had been more cautious but I've only been growing for 7 years and I'm up to 500!! But I do the crash course method for many things. Hilarious! )

BTW, I love lurkers and especially when they pop in and surprise me like you just did! Hurray!
