You can call them up or send them an email. They don't have a orderable website.

Making a list for the RU sale can be frustrating because sometimes they put all of their roses on sale and sometimes they just post a long list of sale roses on their site and you have to choose from that list. A few years ago they had a second sale about a month after the first one and listed a lot of 2-year-old roses for $4.00. I think they didn't want to repot them in 5-gallon containers and decided to sell them off for a song instead. The ones from that sale were the largest (and cheapest) rose bushes I ever received from RU.

There's a really pretty rose on this page of the RU site. If you scroll down to the new Kordes roses, take a look at Pink Enchantment. I think it's absolutely, well, enchanting. Smiling

It isn't listed on helpmefind.com yet.

Never mind. I found it on this site. It's 'Souvenir de Baden Baden,' which I already bought from Palatine this year.

I'll have to add 'Pink Enchantment' to its aka's in the database.

It's very pretty and named after my favorite city in Germany.

I forgot to tell you that I stopped at Freidman's yesterday and only saw a tiny red V shaped trellis, maybe 2 ft tall. Lots of colored round tomato cages.

I like that Purple Rain Kordes rose listed there. Looked it up, a small shrub.

I made a wish list for RU, too. IF they go to half, I'm in. Toni got me looking at purple roses (ok, mauve) and they have some that I can't find elsewhere. Zuzu, do you grow Shot Silk? I remember someone mentioning it on here. I used to see Cecile Brunner in every nursery, now it's kind of hard to find. It might be nice on a trellis with Coral Dawn, which is the main rose I want.
My big order of 13 clematis arrived today from mamajack's coop and they are monsters. I'm having fun figuring out which clem goes with which rose. The weather here will be windy and in the 90s all weekend, but next week it should stay in the 70s and that's mighty fine planting weather.
Yesterday I bought body bag roses against my better judgement, but this time it paid off. They have nice long roots. I'm soaking them today. The store had a big wooden crate full of bags right out of a cooler somewhere. They just got them in. They were still cold on a 90 degree day! Well, the top layer of roses weren't but I dug down. Does anyone know anything about a rose named "Rusty"? There's not much on it on HMF or DG. It is supposed to be russet colored, maybe with stripes. i also got "Joe's Little Red Creeper", which sounded like a good one for my pond bank. not much info on it anywhere. Everything else was familiar. I was happy to find Ducher, Perle d'Or, MAAB and Sea Foam. The store was running a rebate, so each rose was $1.98. nice canes, nice roots, and they really look like they were properly labeled. (MAAB big and grafted, SeaFoam little and shrubby, etc)

Normally I don't grow HT's unless someone swears they are 99.9% disease resistant, but I looked at the HT display at HD yesterday. That peek paid off! I found 2 Carefree Spirits mixed in there. got them for $8 each. I can plant them out where the hose doesn't reach. They''ll look good with Karl Foerster grass mixed in.
Oh Sue, I should look at a Baden Baden rose too. My husband was born there!

Cindi, why are you looking up 'Rusty' on HMF and DG when there's so much info and so many photos in our own database?

Rose (Rosa 'Rusty')

Yes, I do grow 'Shot Silk' and it actually grows quite well on its own roots, so you can buy it from anywhere with no fear.

Is there a really good reason that you want 'Coral Dawn'? Do you know that there's nothing coral about it and that it shares no characteristics with 'New Dawn'? It's a pink rose with a very skimpy rebloom.

*Blush* *Blush*
*Blush* I googled Rusty, and DG and HMF came up. Next time, I'll start here!
Rusty looks like a rose with some mystery! Those photos are quite variable. I would sure like to know the hybridizer and parentage.
The Coral Dawn that I grew at my last house didn't look anything like the photo on here. When I google images for Coral Dawn, I see a few that look like the plant I had. Mine grew over a pergola and was maybe 18' long. It bloomed off and on all summer, into the fall. The flowers were not pure coral, but a coral-pink blend. It reached the bedroom window on the second floor. I wouldn't call it a large-flowered climber, either. It had small perfect buds, like a sweetheart rose, but a bit bigger. It had a metal J & P tag with the name. I bought it in 1998. I wish I knew what it really was. When we put the house up for sale, I started taking cuttings, but never got any to root. I would say it was the color of Climbing America. Wonderful scent. No disease. It wasn't terrifically hardy, because two different winters I thought I had lost it. It grew new long canes each spring. After 8 years, the trunk was as big around as my arm, and there was no way I could dig it out. Any guesses on what I had?

Sue- I always have a hard time answering "what kind of _____ are you looking for" questions because I have very very rarely seen a plant that I didn't like and need! Green Grin!

I'm starting my collection of roses in the circle garden, so I'll be starting off with smaller roses. I limited the size to 5x5 at Chamblees. I'll be able to fit 5 more in the outer circle, and I'll do about 12-15 on the inside, hopefully this fall.

After that's filled, I'll be adding in in other areas, so not as limited on size. I'd love to add some English roses as well as more sprawling types then too.

I did also buy one miniture which I planted beside the birdbath and I potted up my 3 drifts from last year and scattered those throughout the landscaping. Progress!

Here's the ones that I bought a couple of weeks ago:

Burgandy Iceburg
Cinco de Mayo
Dame de Coeur
Distant Drums
Nacogdoches
Trumpeter
Easy Does It
Heirloom
Colorific
Country Dancer

I feel like I got some good "standard" colors that every garden should have, so now I'm looking to branch out into the more Wow Green Grin!

Love that Dame de Coeur. Distant Drums is so beautiful... just picked up Colorific myself this weekend. Heirloom makes for a great cut rose and smells wonderful. Cinco de Mayo unfortunately shatters easily for me, dunno why. Don't have BI, Nocogdoches, Trumpeter, or Country Dancer. What other colors are you looking for?

Hmmm I planted Burgundy Iceberg last fall and it is already bigger than 5 x 5. I would say give that one some elbow room. Sounds like a nice collection, Trish!
Rainbow Sorbet is one I always recommend, definitely a "wow".

Great selection, Trish, and it does hit all of the standard colors. They're all good rebloomers, but Burgundy Iceberg, Cinco de Mayo, and Easy Does It should bloom nonstop for you.

Cinco de Mayo is known around here for it's heat and drought tolerance. I had picked Easy Does It instead, but got talked into both of them (twisted my arm really good, you know Green Grin! )

What other colors- oh...I'd take anything that Sue posted near the beginning here- not seen any of those locally, also really liked the striped colorways. For my official "rose garden" area, I will be doing a mix (obviously), then I'll have specific color needs in other areas where I'm incorporating the roses into mixed beds. Since I liked them all, and never could make a decision last fall, doing a mix was my solution.

Oranges & Lemons, George Burns, Scentimental, Rock n Roll, Purple Tiger.. those are good striped roses. Don't forget some blends like Mardi Gras, California Dreamin', and Dick Clark. You really need a hot orange, too, like Charisma or Judy Garland. And definitely more of the blue family Lovey dubby *Blush* Lovey dubby BlueGirl, Blue Bayou, Sterling Silver, Singin' the Blues, Perfume Melodee... highly recommend these.
