Ah yes, I see they are in Apopka, but they are mail-order only. I'll contact them through eBay. Thanks!

So here's the nice start of Den. Yellow Song 'Canary' that I got from Carol a year ago last fall. Can all these wonderful little shoots be flower spikes? Every cane has 3 or 4 shoots. I'm very excited. All the Dens I've had before bloomed at the ends of the canes.

Elaine, that's exactly the way my old NOID den. (10 years) looks when she starts putting out stems. She was in constant bllom for six months last year, putting out stem after stem. Some people think an orchid plant can "bloom itself to death", but personally, I think that's hog-wash. Congratulations!

This is why I don't remove old "Dead" looking sheaths....these have been on this Cattleya Anna Balmore for months. I figured they weren't going to do anything, didn't feel anything down inside. Around Thanksgiving we had a cold snap and I moved it into the greenhouse where it's been ever since. I was moving some plants around today and I got a surprise ! Blooms soon !

Hello, I'm showing my Den kingianum for the first buds showing, this was an ebay purchase a month ago. Kept it dry x misting and yesterday I found two spikes starting. Should I start to water now, new roots have not started but old roots look great. I paid 10.00 which included shipping!
The phrag Haroldeen Quintal is a schlimii cross, so it will stay small. And I got the Pot Hawaiian Prominence 'America' from Carmela in bud, I love them.

The compact bifofliate is Blc Lily Marie Almas ' Sun Bulb', and blooming for the first time in the 4years I have had her is my passion: Lc Eleanor Roosevelt '#15'. I had put a picture up of her about a month ago because the sheath had filled to near busting with gas, and it had no bud developing. Well, you were right on the nose about giving it some time and so I quit obsessing about it. Watered today and now the wait begins in earnest.

Does anyone else have any First Ladies that are coming into bud, I know Hausermanns Lc Betty Ford 'York' should begin soon?

Sorry, I don't have any "First Ladies", but I have seen them and they are sure beautiful!
You have a lot of beautiful buds there!

Regarding the Den kingianum - I am very cautious to give watering advice on that, I have killed a couple of really nice ones some years ago watering at the wrong time. Having said that, I did water mine ( Den kingianum v silcockii and a couple small others) when I saw buds, but I didn't soak them, just sprayed over the top a bit. The silcockii did fine this year. I should mention, that they sat next to some smaller cacti on the top shelf in the greenhouse right under the glass ceiling, they dry up fairly quick in that spot.

Coming soon to the bloom thread near you: I have spikes on my Phaius tankervillea, Phaius microburst 'Dan Rosenberg' and also my birthday gift plant from last year, Phaiocalanthe Kryptonite which I'm really looking forward to. On the 'down' side, my Rabin's Raven have neither of them put up a spike this year - their 3rd! Glare One more year and they're going out into the 'outback'. (then they'll probably bloom up a storm!) Rolling my eyes.

A nice surprise this morning on my little plant of Den. aggregatum - it has popped out 4 spikes all of a sudden. They look rather wispy and thin, but I have hopes to see a flower some time soon!

On the recovery front, my big Chia Lin plant almost bit the dust, but has recovered from a terrible case of scale, and then black rot! A nice fat new pb coming along. I may yet see another flower on this one in my lifetime!

Yes, it is the time for those ugly looking Dendrobiums to turn into beautiful swans. I have some naked canes out in the OC putting on buds too.
