I took a quick look into the cage, lots of blooms and no rot!! But I have no clue what the weather was in our absence. The Sprinkler came on daily for 20 minutes, if there was rain or not.

I am just amazed at the growth on my bowl of little Lc. Trick or Treat and Lc. Blazing Treat. Six weeks of temps below 90 in June and July, plus SO much rain, they have all doubled in size. Last year each one put up maybe one grudging new pb. These guys all had a case of scale, too, but there's no sign of it now! I think the geckos are taking care of it for me! They are out in the 'quarantine' ward under the big oak tree. Alongside is my Chia Lin with a big sheath, but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

Just a little spike, but with great meaning for me. I've had this B.nodosa for over 3 years and this is the first spike it's made.

I think I'm going to abandon the mount on that one, and a couple of others as I just don't seem to be able to give them enough water. This rainy summer has made them all produce, it seems.

I have a digbyana in a pot and I may lose it to black rot. If I manage to save it or if I get another one, it will be mounted. I can add water much easier than fight fungus.

Looking good, Elaine. Jim brings an interesting spin to it. Lesser of two evils? Lots of waterings, lots of fungus? Confused

Oohh, this one's going to be agonizing. Aranda Jairak Heartthrob has a spike.

Got this plant in Apopka in April, with no blooms, and few roots. It has put on at least 5 new pairs of leaves, but I am really excited to see a spike! Sort of feels like I have 'arrived' if I can make a vanda bloom

Talk about anticipation!!
This is a plant which popped up last Fall in our small bog. I potted it up then and kept it in the greenhouse during the indoor season, watering all along. It grew and this Spring actually needed to be repotted, it had two small babies too. It started to spike this Summer and we are making bets here what kind of Orchid this is.
In the meanwhile we are tapping our feet here, this is taking its sweet time to open as the spike keeps on growing.

Hmm, My Coelogyne barbata is doing that too. I love a good mystery, but even though I spent my youth hiking the local hills, I never knew, or saw and orchid. According to our local Audubon Society there are 2 or 3 indigenous to Orange County. I don't hike the hills anymore, but I should still look them up. Can't wait to see yours!

Bree, I do think so. As of this morning the spike is still growing, no buds are open yet. We are making bets here now when this is going to happen. So far I always lost....
Maybe next week! Smiling
