I never know what my tomatoes might weigh as I don't ever remember to weight them even though I do have a scale. So I am very impressed by that nice weight and size. I am sure that the biggest tomatoes around here will be the BEEFMASTER as those are a nice big beefsteak type.

I have never tried any type of Oxheart tomatoes. Maybe I should!

I seldom weight them, Rita, but thought if I took a pic I could also post it in the Database. Granny Cantrell has a special meaning to me as my first seeds came directly from her (Granny Cantrell) garden.

Hang in there, Patti. I planted my garden much later than I normally do so haven't been getting tomatoes but for the past couple weeks, a few here, a few there, etc. Your turn will come.

Although the tomato plants look ratty these ones in this Patio Grow Bag Sack Planter have been really putting out the tomatoes. I have two Fourth Of July and one Sugary in there. Sugary is a pink grape tomato and just wonderful.

I just went and picked three quarts of tomatoes from the JULIET plants. I know I have three quarts as I used those plastic quart containers you get from the deli or chinese food in. I had them stuffed over the top. Can't believe how many tomatoes the Juliets produce. Just fabulous. Thumbs up

I do so want to make roasted tomatoes and certainly have plenty. Plus my VIVA ITALIA paste types are just starting to ripen and they sure would make fabulous roasted tomatoes as would the Juliet tomatoes that I pick lots and lots of. Of course I could use any of the other types as well. But my oven is gass in my stove and I just don't turn it on in the summer as it heats up the entire house.

Humm, I wonder if I could micro wave them? Not the same as oven roasted though. But maybe I should try.

Do you have a barbecue? That might work and you wouldn't heat up your house.

Fried green tomatoes are good on the grill. Of course that means they are not really fried but grilled green tomatoes. Rolling on the floor laughing

And small firm tomatoes like the Juliets I grow are fabulous on kebobs on the grill. Thumbs up

But neither is the same exactly as roasted tomatoes which need an oven. And in the winter I don't have all these yummy tomatoes.

I can't remember what forum I saw it in but Dave posted a picture of a bunch of tomatoes roasting on an open fire, so I am thinking that they can be roasted on a grill and it may even give them a better flavor. I use my gas grill like an oven and it works with other veggies why not tomatoes?
