Btw, you might have recognized the colorful "Thai Giants" more or less against the back wall. I like to group them with the Orchids, since they need to be watered and fertilized a lot in the Summer.
Looking towards the right back -
right front
I hang most of the little species from those bars and also, not visible here, I place a lot of plants underneath those and into the right front corner. ( Bulbos, getting mainly morning sun)
on the deck -
Epiphyllum oxypetalum, other smaller Epis, Caudiciforms, Rhipsalis, Gasterias, Stapeliads, Haworthias, a couple of Hoyas, more Cacti, odds and ends....and a few orchids in bloom and spike.
Wow, Ursula!
What are those little pipe clamp do-dads that are attached to the pipes, that your shelves sit on?
It's an interesting bit of engineering! I would love to see a video of you making the 5000 round trips
carrying a 4 foot tall vanda with 8 feet of roots, from your greenhouse, down the stairs and across
the lawn
Clamp-do -dads = rod clamps?
I am using the same shelf system in the greenhouse too. Husband Klaus put the whole thing together for me.
Those aluminum rods and clamps came from a chemical pilot plant which closed down and we saved them from the compactor. It is standard lab supply. Our luck and perfect timing! The shelves are Home Depot closet shelves.
About the 5000 trips - you are not kidding!! I carried them all through the house and down, it takes me days. But it is excellent exercise and that is the stuff which keeps me reasonably fit.
Yesterday I washed out all greenhouse trays and stacked them in the garage over the Summer, and the next thing is scrubbing the greenhouse inside and outside/ polishing the glass panes.
