Really nice, Lindsey. My poor orchids are crammed into the garage until Saturday. Tomorrow I should get my first bid on my lanai conversion project.

I'm jealous too. Just read your article Donna and was happy to hear about your orchid greenhouse from the past.

My DH built it with wood and plastic covered hardware cloth. It was only an 8' X 12', but that's all we needed. I think this is the only photo I have of the inside, with our daughter sitting on the bench, it was taken probably about 1957.

Love the pic. I would be about her age I'd say. I wish my mother had had a greenhouse! She would have loved that!

Greenhouse update from Greenville!
We got the floor done today, I have a center row of cement pavers..24" x 24" with
pea gravel on either side. And we got the door in..what a project that was, and I'm
glad that I don't have to do that all day everyday to put food on the table! Still missing
one of the triangular pieces of glass on the gable...Hubby broke the original , we had
the same company make us a replacement...and when we unwrapped it and tried to install it
in the frame..it was a smigen thicker than the original , so we couldn't use it.
It got quite warm today and while we were working the thermostat kicked the fan/vent
operation into gear

And - despite minor set backs, wonderful progress is made!

That's right Jim, sorta like dragging orchids from the lanai in wheelbarrow loads to the garage...several times a week!

Oh but it's going to be sooo nice when you get the finishing touches done. And you can stand back and say, "Look what we did!"

My husband and I restored an old mahogany sloop, and some days (weeks,months.. Years!) we wondered if
it would ever be done. But boy when it was, it was a sight to behold!

Oh, I bet it was BEAUTIFUL!!
