It takes about 75 days for seed pods to ripen. On/about the 65th day it is advisable to bind the seed pods to prevent them from opening because the tufts on the seeds will cause them to drift away with any breezes. Harvest the seeds when the pods are beginning to split and remove the tufts at both ends of each seed. They may be planted immediately or placed in a Ziploc baggie and stored in the refrigerator for several months.
