Virtually all of my Lancifolia have red in the petiole, whether it's a 1-year or 10+ year old plant The other thing I'm going on is vein count. Those in @3Mark 's photo only appear to be 3-4 vein pairs, whereas Lancifolia has 5-7 pairs.

From http://www.hostamill.be/ENG/EN...

Plant: Medium
Leaf: Petiole green with a red dotted base; Tight clump with layers of arching, shiny green lanceolate leaves; 5-7 pairs of veins
Scape: Large, leaf-shaped sterile bracts at the bottom of the scape.
Flower: Lavender; anthers purple/violet.
Flowering Time: August/September
Seed: Close to sterile
LLK: No longer by my side, but forever in my heart.
Pal tiem shree tal ma.
