Snow in the morning, out basking in the sun in the afternoon,
Posted on Feb 23, 2016 2:46 PM

I was so disappointed when I saw a cold and snowy morning. I had a day off and was ready to go out and 'hit it' at cleaning the gardens. By afternoon the snow had melted and the sun was shining. it reached almost 50 degrees, and I was smiling. I was able to go out for around 4 hours and start cleaning the front garden. I raked, pulled and disposed (to the green waste)of almost a pickup bed full of green waste. (I am so blessed to have a green waste plant within 3 miles of me.)
The one thing that I need to do in that flower bed is cut through all the Creeping Myrtle. It goes everywhere. I cut it down to the ground in the fall or spring, and soon it has filled the area again.
The daffodils and tulips are poking out of the ground and soon will be giving me beautiful flowers.
I am looking forward to being out in the yard. I can make it beautiful and no one disturbs it (except for the deer).
I have ordered more dahlia's and am so excited to get them planted in pots prior to planting them out.

Thumb of 2016-02-23/MyRee/441146 The pine tree is gone now - It had the pine boar in it and the top half was dead. Now I am going to put a raised bed there.

Thumb of 2016-02-23/MyRee/9fa26e I change to front every year, add a container or a few, change out the flowers... it is fun to see the changes year to year.

Thumb of 2016-02-23/MyRee/941812 even the very front of the house changes yearly.

I, like you, have a lot of fun. I tell my husband that I am going out to have fun, no matter if it is a day of weeding or just to enjoy the view.

Seed Starting February 17th 2016 and a little about me.
Posted on Feb 17, 2016 10:25 PM

I am getting so antsy to start seeds. Winter is long for me here in Utah. We have had nice snowfall this year and it is finally melting with the little warmer weather. I love the moisture, I know we need it, but I am so glad to see the soil again.

I gathered seeds from my many Hardy Hibiscus and some of my other favorites last fall. Today I used the Deno method in baggies to (hopefully) sprout them. I am also attempting to start canna, dahlia, and zinnia the Deno method. My favorite flowers are Hardy Hibiscus and Dahlias.

I have ordered new covering for my little greenhouse and will be able to use it in a couple of weeks. It is a homemade 10' by 12' greenhouse and serves me very well to start my seeds and grow out my seedlings until planting time which us usually after the 1st week of May.

My yard is sometimes left so I can care for my house next to me which I have renovated and turned into a vacation rental. I have been able to renovate the yard and it is beautiful from spring to fall. I call that place my full size doll house. I love it.
I am seen out in the yards almost all the time when I am not at work. I really don't like being in the house.
Here are a few pictures of the yard and flowers from last year.
