trial 2018 planting of 36 corms. Harvested some 20 flowers for saffron before hard freeze. Corms did not survive winter unprotected; drainage was inadequate. Worth another try.

Not pure live seed; lots of chaff, spent flowers, calyx, etc. but broadcasting or spreading this "duff" on starter trays/pots works wonderfully. Seed and chaff was soaked (~24hrs) in 1.5% H2O2 for germination in approx. 15 days.

A hardy xeric, bee-friendly shrub. All hardwood cutting attempts failed; resorted to propagation by seed in 01Qtr2022. Self collected seed w trimmed styles sown. Moderate (+60%) germination success. In containers, seedling growth is moderate to rapid. In trades, seed will have trimmed styles; ask if you'd like a few w intact feathery styles.

A thriving screen/windbreak planted-out in spring 2018; all required protection from mule deer first 3 yrs. Deer protection removed early 2021. Successfully propagated with HW cuttings (late winter - early spring), winter-sown seed (2020-2021), and by layering (01Qtr2022).
