A note from lauribob
I am not interested in selling or trading live plants. I do save seeds once in awhile and would be willing to trade those.

Bell Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Golden Calwonder')

Will
Vegetables
72 Days. OP
Golden yellow bell peppers.
2021: 2 plants from seed. We didn't get a lot of peppers off these this year, and the ones we did get were small and kind of misshapen. They were right next to the tomatoes though, so were kind of shaded by that.
2018: Bought starts. These were great in a year when the bell peppers were meh. The biggest, the most, the thickest walls. Get them again.

Jalapeno Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Goliath')

Will
Vegetables
65-68 days. Hybrid. SHU: 7,000
These are pretty big - up to 4" long and a little hotter than some jalapenos. We like them.
2021: 2 plants from seed. All of our peppers are doing well this year and we have tons of jalapenos. I think these did a little better than the Jalafuegos - more prolific and larger peppers. Could have just been the location - they were at opposite ends of the garden.
2018: bought starts. I have to remember to get seeds for these - I like them better than the regular jalapeƱos. They are much larger and produce really well for us. They taste good when green or red, and are a good size for poppers.

Hot Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Holy Mole')

Vegetables
85 days. Hybrid. SHU: 700-800
A long, slim green to brown pepper. I guess you can dry it and grind it up to make mole sauce. I thought it might be a hot pepper when I bought it. We don't like mole sauce so...
2021: A couple plants from starts. We tasted it at the green, starting to turn to brown stage, and didn't care for it much. Thin walled and bland. Later, at the end of harvest, they had more heat and more flavor. I didn't particularly care for them, but Greg said he'd snack on them.

Serrano Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Hot Rod')

Will
Vegetables
57 days green, 77 days red. Hybrid. SHU: 16K
3" fruits, red to green.
2018: From purchased start. Did OK.

Plant loaded with fruit

Hot Banana Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Hungarian Hot Wax')
Icon for preview
Will
Vegetables
Vegetables this year
70 days. OP. SHU: 5K-10K. Yellow to red, long pepper. Not too hot. I can't notice much difference between 'Hot Wax' and 'Yellow Wax' in terms of taste or heat. We grow one or the other most years and they're usually pretty prolific. Good in salsa and for just munching on.

2023: 4 plants from seed. NE end.

Fruits Are 6-7 Inches & Hot

Hot Banana Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Hungarian Yellow Wax')

Will
Vegetables
65 days. OP. SHU: 3K-10K
Yellow to red, banana peppers. Medium heat. We grow either these or 'Hot Wax' every year. I can't really tell any difference between them.

2022: 6 plants from starts. Planted out from GH June 6, northwest end. We had tons of these this year.
2020: 6 plants from seed. We got a lot of peppers off these.
2019: 3 plants from seed. Did well.
2018: A couple plants from seed. It wasn't a great pepper year for us, but these did well.

Bell Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Iko Iko')
Icon for preview
Prev
Vegetables
65 days. OP
2018: Purchased a start. Most of my bells didn't do very well this year for some reason. This one produced a number of smallish purple peppers . They were thin-walled and somewhat contorted. Maybe the smoke all summer made it not sunny enough? These should have ripened to red or orange.

Hot Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Inferno')
Icon for preview
Will
Vegetables
60 days. Hybrid. SHU: 2500-6K
An 8" hot wax pepper, a little hotter than some.
2021: Bought a start and it was the only wax pepper we planted this year. Greg liked this one a lot - said it was a tad hotter and had nice flavor. We got a lot of them off this plant and they were ready to pick early.

Bell Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Ivory')
Icon for preview
Prev
Vegetables
60-80 days. Hybrid.
Supposed to be a pale yellow/ivory color.
2021: Planted 1 purchased start. Mine never made it past green. We got a few thin-walled, small green peppers off this plant. I think I'm done growing bell peppers. They never amount to much and they're so cheap and good in the store right now.

Fajitas!!

Vegetables
Vegetables this year
70 days. Hybrid. SHU: 40-60K. I've grown these for several years now. I prefer the larger size of these as well as the little bit more heat they give you.

2023: 2 plants from seed - I usually do better with these! SE end.
2021: 2 plants from seed. We've got tons of jalapenos this year! Nice big plump ones.
2020: 6 plants from seed. We got a lot of peppers off each plant, but we need more plants next year.
2019: 1 plant from seed. Need more.
2018: These did well and we got quite a few peppers in a bad pepper year.
2017: These are great! They did well and we got a lot of nice big, hot peppers.

Prev
Vegetables
70-75 days. SHU: 2500-8000
2022: No peppers from seed this year. Planted 6 generic Jalapeno starts SW corner. They did just fine, but I prefer the larger cultivars when I can find them.

Bell Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Karma')

Vegetables
68 days. Hybrid
Green to red bell pepper
2021: Bought a start. It put out some small peppers. They didn't have any size to them and were kind of twisted, but the walls were medium thick.

Bell Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'King Arthur')

Will
Vegetables
59-79 days. (green to red) Hybrid
2022: 4 plants from starts. Planted out from GH June 6, NW end. These are doing pretty well! I picked my first small, green pepper on July 7. It had nice walls for a small one, and was quite tasty. This one did the best of any of the bells. None had any size to them though.

Image

Bell Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'King of the North')
Icon for preview
Will
Vegetables
60 days Green, 70-80 Red. OP
These are supposed to be bred to turn red in a northern, short-season climate.
2021: 1 tiny plant from seed - I bought a start instead. These did turn red earlier than any others, but they didn't have any size to them. None of the bells did this year.
2019: I've got one plant from 2018 seed.
2018: A few plants from seed. The peppers were unimpressive this year.

Bell Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Lilac')

Vegetables
70 days. Hybrid. Bell pepper. Yellow to purple to red.
2010: We got some peppers off these and they were purple. They were pretty thin-walled and we weren't overly impressed.

Cayenne Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Long Red Cayenne')
Icon for preview
Will
Vegetables
70 days. Heirloom. SHU: 30K-50K Hot
Pinetree seeds sells as Cayenne-Long. Supposed to be 6" long, ours average around 3".
2020: Good germination, I only kept one plant. It produced enough to keep us in cayennes for a couple years. They're dried in a jar.

Hot Banana Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Mexican Sunset')

Vegetables
62 days. Hybrid. SHU: 9-10K
Supposed to be sunset colors of yellow, orange, red. Like most wax peppers...
2021: 1 plant from seed. I didn't even plant it apparently. Must have been too small to bother with.

Still green

Anaheim Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Numex Big Jim')

Vegetables
Vegetables this year
75-80 days. OP. SHU: 2,500-3,000.
An anaheim with a little kick, like a mild jalapeno. Supposed to get really big and be perfect for chile rellenos.

2023: 2 plants from seed. Planted out really late, NE end.
2018: We had one plant of these - a purchased start. We lost the tags and didn't know what it was until I found the map after we had picked everything. We put them in our salsa. I think I'll try them again from seed.

Image

Bell Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Orange Sun')
Icon for preview
Will
Vegetables
81 days. OP
Green to orange bell.
I've had pretty good luck with these in the past - one of the bigger, thicker walled ones for me. Nice yellow to orange colors.
2019: Planted some seed from 2018. They came up, but damped off. No plants.
2018: From seed. These did the best of the bells.
2017: These didn't get real big, but they had decent walls and tasted good.
