I think Ursula is busy fighting dragons, not to mention a big electricity outage due to Sandy. What a mess that is and I expect it to continue for some time. Anyway, in her absence, I'll start the November thread. We came from The thread "Our Orchid blooms in October 2012" in Orchids forum. Please join us in enjoying the wonders of our November orchid flowers.

I'll start off with a new bloom on my Psychopsis Mendenhall alba 'Yellow Butterfly'.


I somehow lost the tag on this one so I'll have to call her a NOID Cattleya. Large flower with great floof.


Rhynchovola David Sander (formally Brassavola) is in bloom. This is the first flower with more buds coming. One of my favorites.

This is one of my Brassavola nodosas and folks around here call it the "Weaver" form. I'm not sure that is an official name but if it is, it should go in single quotes after nodosa. These are very fragrant after dark and so are known as "Lady of the Night" orchids.


B. nodosa is one of the parents of Bc. Little Stars, which is also fragrant after dark. My plant is loaded with blooms now.


C. Bicolor 'Lines' AMAOS X L. undulata is still in good form.


Blc. Hawalian Leopard 'Mai Ling' has opened two new blooms.


And Blc. Golden Tang has done the same.

The Queen of Floof, Blc. Chia Lin 'New City', is back. What a great fragrance.


Lc Nippon 'Livinza' isn't quite open yet but is looks so cool I just had to take a picture. I'll post again when she is fully open.


Looking over at Vanda row, I have two big ones that are fully open.


The red one is Vanda Mae Sai X Vanda Kenji that I got in Apopka a few years ago.


The other is the one I bought a couple of weeks ago, Vanda Boonchoo X Vanda Thonglor Sand. It has two big spikes, both in bloom.


Miltassia Aztec 'Toni' keeps opening new flowers as the old ones fade.

Lc. Hua Yuan Angel has a couple of new blooms.


Epic. Volcano Trick Fireball continues to open blooms along its spike.


And three plants worth of "dancing ladies".


Here is a look at the second of two spikes on Bllra. Pacific Treasures 'Everything Nice'.


There is this beautiful white NOID Dendrobium blooming up at the top of the OC. I had to get a ladder to get it down to take a picture.


I'll leave you tonight with another big Catt that I have had for years and she blooms in November like clockwork. This is Lc. Irene Finny ( Irene's Song X Marie's Song).

Fabulous, Jim. We are on the plane to Salt Lake tomorrow to meet our new granddaughter, so will try to check in from there.

One of the gas stations up the road was able to get a new load of gasoline! It's the first really good news this week! Our area is otherwise still untouched, hoping we will see some activity today!

Fabulous pics and plants, Jim. I have several 1 1/2 yr old, Lc. Mari's Song 'CTM 217' HCC/AOS plants but they are still too young to bloom. This is a pic of what I hope to one day enjoy.

Posting with the help of the friendly humming generator - Ornithophora radicans is one happy camper again this year, the clump measures 2 feet !! across. The flowers have a nicely sweetish scent. The closer-in views show the sheer density of the spikes. And yes, there is a coconut shell in that clump.

Blc. Goldenzelle 'Frank Smith' opened today. The flower is huge. I bought it from Jim Krull at Krull-Smith Orchids up in Apopka a couple of years ago.
