We love to talk about all aspects of weather, the effect on our gardens, and on our lives. It's a good place to keep a record of weather in our gardens from year to year too, so for that reason let's try to stay as close to the topic as we can. Please join in and tell us about your weather.

Well here in Houston, TX it has continued hot and humid and we got at least one tropical storm which came ashore to the East of Houston, TX So we have experienced the
weather! We have gotten a good bit of rain and I can say that most of the plants are thriving and will continue right through Christmas! Of course, I am still harvesting
lots of Chili Peppers!
Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds that you plant.

The first day of fall is bringing our first rainy day since the end of July. It started raining last night around 11:30 p.m. and it has been pretty steady since then. We need a couple of days of steady rain to help make up for how dry it has been this summer, so this is a good start.

Today's high 72 F or 22 C, with rain in the forecast all day.

I'm glad to report that you can add me to that fortunate list. Hurray! Hurray! rained all day yesterday and continues now. 1.75" as of noon.

Our sandy, thirsty soil is drinking it up.

As you can see just beneath the surface it's still dry as powder.

Dave, saw video of the waves. Pretty choppy up there.

I am happy that it is the first day of fall, sure had enough of summer. Glare We may get some showers this afternoon and tomorrow, we are still pretty dry here, thankfully it is a lot cooler, we have had a couple of frosts already. 58 and partly cloudy today.

I don't have any daylilies but I plan to get some.

As for my weather, it's hot but my plants are making it. Except for henna and pachira, that is. Maybe add lychee, longan, and rambutan to the mix as well. But morning glories and Caesalpinia are doing exceptionally well in the heat.

Be warned. It can be like a crack-cocaine addiction once you get started. You will want to sell your kids or dog for money to buy more daylilies.
Then, like all addicts, you have to start selling the goods to make money to buy more. Soon you will be hybridizing like an addict on withdrawl, to get your next fix. Rolling on the floor laughing

I've had daylilies before and they were absolutely gorgeous. I want to bring them back to my life again.

Thank you Jill and Linda!
Hurray! for everyone getting some rain!

Not sure what the temps were today, battery that sends the data to the indoor station died last night. It says temps were 52 and 71 with the new batteries which I don't think are to far off Shrug! Humidity is wicked.
Woke up to one of those "scattered showers" parked overhead. Glare Finally got outside around 9 and dug more sdlgs for the compost. Two hours later and only 3 more rows to go in the first row of 1000 sdlgs, when another shower came through. This is the 3rd day of digging the row, don't want anyone thinking I'm a speed digger! Dried off enough this afternoon so pod tags were dry again. Always exciting to see what crosses worked.

Frosts....wow, that's early! The leaves are just starting to change on the highest areas, apples are in full picking mode. I picked some off our trees to make applesauce. We don't spray or anything so they are not the best fresh eating apples, fine for freezer sauce.

Our trees do not have any apples this year due to a late spring frost. Thumbs down

It has rained all day today, and there is rain in the forecast for tomorrow, too.

High winds continue; the gale warnings were insufficient as gusts in the 60+ mph range reported. Blinking Areal power fails all along the lower Lake Huron coast. Sad We have been on constant generator power since 9:30 last night. Otberwise like yesterday.
