I'm not sure I'm understanding you, Philip -- but we do have plenty of veggie growers here as well.

Overall, though, the flowers make a lot better photos, IMO!

Personally, I thought All Things Plants was a much better name for our site. (that's what it was until April of this year)

Lots of people objected to the name change, and we even lost a bunch of our international members who thought the "National" designation made it not so friendly for folks from other countries. Such a shame.

Call it whatever you like. I named my shortcut icon simply 'Plants' which goes well with the green leaf logo associated with the shortcut. Neither NGA nor ATP are very intuitive to me, I have to actually think (heaven forbid) what the initials stand for.

What page opens on NGA for you Daniel? I don't block the ads and I'm not seeing those. Actually I'm not seeing any ads on my NGA opening page. I do see them other places at times. My first page is the Forums list, I think, and not the home page. I guess I need to look there and see if there are ads. I have an ad blocker for browsing, though. That may block some ads on NGA as well. I'd rather not have one, but some of the ads were getting so intrusive and moving across what I was trying to read and way, way too many video ads. There are still too many of those.

Edit. I went and looked and I think it really is the homepage for NGA. Lists 98 forums and then photos below and articles to the right. Desktop here, so it may be different when using other devices. No ads anywhere, though.

We all see different ads, they're targeted to where you are located or to what you or someone else who has used the computer has recently Googled presumably. I often get ads for a hedge trimming service in a nearby city, not that I have ever needed a hedge trimmed so in this case it must be by location.

Your woman is likely shopping lingerie from your computer. 😉.

You can look up the "History" and block certain images and sights on your parental settings if the ads are disturbing.

@ediblelandscapingsc ^^^ My comment above.

You can also instigate a "private" browsing so you I.P. will not display the browsing history or ads if adults need to browse and you don't want children to see the lingerie ads.

I like the name "Garden.org." It is a very professional name. The name encompasses Nature's gardens as well as our cultivated gardens. A person will more likely enter the word "Garden" into their search engine when looking for garden growing ideas than "plants" therefore I believe more traffic will be directed to the sight with the new name of 'Garden.org'.

The definition of "National" is not "The United States." It can be the global planetary Nation of Gardeners.

(e.g. The Nation of Islam....)

This was my personal experience...

I saw the sight "All Things Plants" many many times but did not investigate much because I thought it might be someone's private news article for plants in general or something of the like. I was not interested in general knowledge about plants. I already had that.

When "National Gardenening Association" appeared on my screen I immediately envisioned a combination society of Professional Vendors, Horticulture Specialists, and Professional Gardeners. I was shopping and looking up plant varieties. Immediately I felt such a society of folks would have something to offer me. Something... it was worth looking to see who made up this "Gardening Association".

The Name is Good. 🌺

You can only disable ads if you've posted a certain number of photos to the database I think, Lin.

Edited to add link from site forum about this, it's not just photos but includes other database contributions. I don't have the option because I haven't uploaded much to the database, I'm mostly in the forums:

Confused I don't understand the original question on this thread either.

Philip, are you asking if the site name should be changed to flowers as in flowers.org? Originally we were known as All Things Plants (www.allthingsplants.com) but that changed when the Whitinger family acquired the NGA website at which time the two sites were merged; www.garden.org is the web address for the National Gardening Association (NGA) and the site encompasses everything gardening related, fruits, vegetables, flowers, compost/soil, seeds, etc., etc. ... not just flowers.

Thanks for the tips everyone. A lot of the ads are for things like Michigan bulb company and home depot which I do shop at but others I think are just random things but my wife may have been looking a clothes or lingerie in the past. I doubt she has done so in a while with her being pregnant but you never know with her Rolling my eyes. When I'm on NGA's homepage there are no ads, on a thread they are at the bottom, but when I click on a forum they are big and off to the left. Thank God there are no video pop ups or ads across what I'm reading I hate that crap so bad. Then you try to hit the little x to close it and it takes you to the site Grumbling that kills me. I think if NGA ever got that bad I'd have to say my goodbyes.
To me National Gardening Association sounds like a US government funded site or a site you have to pay fees to join. I could see why some people overseas would feel a certain way about the name change and why other gardeners may be hesitant to check us out. All things plants was just that all things plants.

Yes, congratulations, Daniel! (just don't tell us what you're planning to name your baby, or we'll be offering suggestions for something different Hilarious! )

And, I don't think the site name here is really open to suggestions for a name change, either... Hilarious!
