Karen, Carol, winter feels like it is back here today again with the overcast skies and much cooler temps, feels more like January than May and rains are expected later today and overnight. Thankfully we are on the valley side, so we get rains..higher elevations will get snow Rolling my eyes.

Such beautiful blooms. My daughter just sent me a plumeria from Florida Colors Nursery--Tex Huestis. I live in Pensacola. After doing research I see that I should plant it in a pot and bring it in in the winter. We do not have a garage. Is it OK to put it in a shed in the cold weather? And what size pot should I use... Does it matter? It is roughly 18 inches tall. Has a flower and 4 flower buds and lots of pointy new growth/buds. It has a root mass of roughly 4 inch diameter. I just became a member of NGA in the last week. I have never had a plumeria and do not know anyone who has one. I don't want to kill it! I remember seeing them in Hawaii. I apologize if this is not the place to ask this question but you all sound like you really know what you are doing.

Welcome @Scentamental. You did the right thing and the pot looks to be a good size for the plant. Make sure your mix is well draining, Plumeria do not like wet feet. FULL SUN is the best recipe for blooms! Once your night temperatures go below 40 you want to bring it in to a frost free environment, and they will be dormant during the winter and need no care. Good luck! Tex Huestis is a great bloomer!

Thank you Dutchlady1. I feel better about my plumeria. Went on Garden tour of 6 places in my area today and No one had a plumeria. Going to give this my best. I appreciate your help especially when I hovered over your "badges" and saw that you are a very busy lady. Thank you again.

Got a 6" cutting from my son in 2016 when he came back from Hawaii and it is now about 3 feet tall. It has not bloomed yet because we have to overwinter it in the house. This year, it kept some of the leaves all winter, then we repotted it so it may have taken a setback. It is looking pretty healthy, but I don't know if we will see a bloom on it this year.

Just a little side note: I realized when I just looked at this picture now that the 'flower bed' my husband made me is in the background. He cut our old 40 year-old headboard and footboard down to this size and I have planted red portulaca in it and hope that it will get tall enough to look like a red bedspread later. I don't expect the wood to last but a couple of years, but it is just a bit of whimsy to enjoy.

blue23rose You just might be surprised by blooms this year Smiling Your Plumeria is healthy / mature so I would look for some buds forming. Perhaps a dose of "Blossom Booster" fertilizer would encourage it .

I took my first cuttings from six varieties, yesterday. These are the first cuttings in well over a year. Though I have basically started over after my move to FL last spring (sold most of my plant inventory before the move, over 1000 plants), I did bring a good number of small rooted and cuttings when I moved. I now have 20 varieties and over 200 potted plumeria. I'll continue to take cuttings from several varieties every day. I have a post on the "Classifieds" if anyone would like to take a look.

Plumeria should be performing at their best now. We have really gotten hot and of course, always have that high humidity. It's hard on us old folks though.

I planted a whole tray of seeds that I collected on our beach holiday in early May. They have started to come up now. They came from a yellow plant but on a street where almost every yard had at least one plumeria growing in it and there were several different colors. SO it will be interesting, if I ever bloom any of them, to see what I got!

@BBQNBLUES I agree, I figured when I bought the seeds it would be mostly yellow. I just Googled 'Lemon Chiffon Plumeria' - https://www.floridacolorsplume... and apparently mine was misnamed and now I'm not sure what the name should be.

@plantmanager Thank you.

I don't have that one, Chris, so can't help you with naming her. Where was she purchased?
