Wow, that's early Rita. I usually don't start mine until March 21 since we have a last frost date of almost Memorial Day. I should buy a few heat mats and start them earlier in the greenhouse. I don't want to heat it that high to get them started.

Yup, getting going much earlier than normal this season. Hope that it really is an early Spring.

I plant my peppers after I do my tomatoes in garden. So early May. My tomatoes usually go in end of April.

Bought two 48 x 20 heat mats and a thermostat yesterday on Amazon to get my seeds off to a faster start this year. Check.

Took inventory of my left over peat pots and seedling cells that I didn't use last year. I have plenty of each, so I don't have to buy more of them. Check.

Last year I mixed up my own seed starting mix from 1/3 peat moss, 1/3 vermiculite, 1/3 composted soil, with some lime and organic fertilizer mixed in. I think I'll just go to Lowes or Home Depot this year and pick up a few bags of Jiffy. Check.

Have purchased my veggie and flower seeds that I want to start in the greenhouse. Check.

All the things on my list are checked off. Smiling

Can you tell March is almost here???? Hurray!

It's cheaper to make my own mix, but it takes longer than I care to spend on it this year. Besides, the fresh composted soil (1/3 of the formula) is under a bunch of frozen debris. Times a wastin!

Thanks, Rita. I was hoping to get over to Lowe's today and pick up some bags of Jiffy Seed Starter Mixture, but it is snowing and the roads have a coating already. My van, unless I put weight in the back, slides all over the place. Maybe it will stop, or I can wait until tomorrow. My seed heat mats are due to arrive tomorrow.

All kinds of pepper and tomato seedlings here under lights near the window in my home office. Tomato seedlings at just a week today since sowing but many are popped up already.

Many peppers up but many more still to go yet. Exciting to see the little seedlings starting out in life.

I think it was this date last year that I started all of my seeds. With selling our rental house next door and a couple of fundraisers I have to fulfill for our business, I'm not even close to getting them in this year. I just can't seem to get a chunk of time to work out in the greenhouse.

You can always just buy starts at the local Nursery. Not as fancy as any varieties you might start for yourself but still makes for a nice garden!!

I started a fan gently blowing on my veggie seedlings here indoors. Have it going today and started yesterday. The breeze stresses the stems and makes them stronger.

My eggplants are looking real nice. Tomatoes are small but that is to be expected.

Some of my peppers are not even up yet. Others have their first set of true leaves already.

I can't wait for spring planting time!!

My days of buying starts are over. Thumbs up I'll get them going within the next week or so. Last year they took longer to germinate and sprout then they should this year with my new heat mats, so I'll probably wind up ahead.

Got out into the greenhouse today and got some cleaning and disinfecting done. The season has begun! Thumbs up Doubt if I'll have time tomorrow, but will definitely get the seeds in by Friday or the weekend.
