D'Oh! The best laid plans...

I decided to move one of the 55 gallon water drums out of my greenhouse to make some more room. (I think the remaining 3 will serve the purpose.) Of course, that necessitated draining the 4 drums down and rerouting the water tubing. While doing that, I came up with the "brilliant" idea of getting the water pump off the little floor platform and putting it up on the wall to make even more room. It took me a while. I built a little shelf, rerouted the tubing for the pump, and made all the connections. After I cleaned up, I decided to run the pump. I never thought while doing all of this that by raising the pump above the top of the barrels, it can't syphon the water! D'Oh! D'Oh! D'Oh! So, now I have to disconnect it again, lower it down, cut and fasten the tubing again! Another delay in getting my seeds started! Sometimes, I outsmart myself. Grumbling

I think you are making the right decision, Jim....I would LOVE a 4 season room...right now I have a screened in back porch...my yard also is a straight-down hill...used to have the veggie garden down there....not anymore! I can barely walk down there once a day.....well, walking down is easy...it's getting up the hill that's the problem. Anyway, unless I win the Lotto, I'm stuck with the screened porch.

When we first moved here 24 years ago, we had our garden down in the field in a 30 x 20 fenced in area. I found having it that far away from the house, I did not tend to it as often as I should. That's why we went to a number of smaller gardens closer to the house...wherever we could fit them in. That old garden down in the field is still there with a few dwarf fruit trees. They don't need as much attention. I don't like going up and down there, especially the climb up the hill, unless I have to or am feeling energetic!

The main reasons I agreed to buy this house was the fact of the sunroom.. and flat property.. finally setup a rack in the sunroom with lights .. it is boaderline too chilly in there for plants in January and February but the pots I brought in didn't fair too badly

Ah yes, flat ground...something hard to come by here in the Poconos. I didn't think much of it when we bought this place back in 1995. We were just so happy with the house and 8+ acres for the purchase price we paid.

The only flat land here in town is by the river.....the rest of the town is hilly. After our son left for college, we filled in our inground pool....that's where my veggie garden is now...right next to the house...but I still tend to neglect the weeding!

We are on top of schooley's mountain.. flat property is very hard to come by .. once we fix the place up .. hopefully it will be worth good money later .. 1.5 million homes behind us .. 500+ down our street.. hopefully will get there

Rocks everywhere here.....we built on a ledge....lightning is always striking near the house...hope we have a 'quiet' summer, not too many electrical storms.....My flower & veggie sprouts look good, but they seem very small for this time of year....maybe I can get them outside later in the week.....

Would be nice if it got balmy enough to take the seedlings outside for the day.

Pepper seedlings looking really nice. Growing well and looking like they want to be outside.

Eggplant also doing well. Tomato seedlings still small. I hope they grow and catch up.

FINALLY, got some seeds planted in peat pots today in my greenhouse...10 days later than I usually start planting. 32 peat pots with 4 varieties of tomatoes; 32 peat pots with 4 varieties of peppers; 36 cells of zinnias, 32 cells of carnations; 3 rows each of lettuce and spinach in my raised cold frames. More to do yet, but at least I finally found some time to get started. Thumbs up

You may be late but at least you got them planted.

I usually start planting my veggies outdoors before the end of April so I really need my tomato seedlings to grow!!

My seedlings are miniscule....too cloudy & cold for them to do well in front of the glass doors.....I usually don't plant them out until the end of may, so they still have a chance to grow.

I usually push planting out time but it works out for me.
