I put mine in a bright, but not direct sunny east/south facing window. They bloom once a year, each one at a different time. But I have been getting rid of mine. Whistling

I am living proof that growing hardy succulents is much easier when we get older. nodding

Just put the orchid by the bright window (filtered light and not direct sun light with about 4 hours or more).

Orchids are so ugly when they aren't blooming. A year is a long time to baby something without a bloom. I thought about getting some fake bloom stems to stick in the pot the rest of the year. Rolling on the floor laughing

Phalaenopsis (moth orchids) can bloom twice a year for about 3-4 months long (rest period 4-5 months). There are some species that can bloom 3-4 times a year but the condition must be right. I do have some orchids but I rather watch the semps instead.

OMGoodness!!!!Janice's box arrived today packed full of gorgeous babies. Hurray! Thank you SO MUCH for sending to me! WOW! I just don't know what else to say, I am overwhelmed. I got all the named ones into peat pots before I ran out of pots. I am hard pressed to say which is my favorite! I think the little cobweb NoId might be it though! Leave it to me to love a NoId most! Don't hold me to that though.....many of those named ones are spectacular! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!
A big Group hug to everyone involved in making this possible. Barring tragedy it looks like I'll be sending some out next year thanks to Janice's generosity!

Cool!

Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

My box arrived today!! I've been busier than a 1-armed paper hanger, getting things done for a graduation party tomorrow (my nephew is graduating from high school -- why on a Wednesday? no clue -- and I'm essentially catering, but I have to get extra organized 'cause we live an hour away now). So... I'm just now sitting down to open it, and I know it's going to be amazing!! I'll post photos and report in detail, but probably not until Thursday... :-)

Thanks, Lynn, for sharing your beauties with me and for organizing this sharing event!

I put them in a sheltered spot and they look to be okay! Lots of wind, hail and rain but the tornado hit north of us. Whew!

Never been close to a tornado but that is scary. Hope those little guys make it. Mine are really perking up. I'm going to get sand so I can plant mine Thursday. Today I worked up the soil and pulled the weeds. I may get some small rocks to put on top of the soil.

Keyi, glad neither you nor your plants were blown away!

I couldn't resist peeking last night... Lynn, you found such amazing varieties out there for me! Thank you! I unwrapped one and then decided I had to share the fun, so the rest will wait until Joyanna and I can unwrap them together. I wish you could be with us to share her delight (and mine)... she really loves the hens & their chicks!

Jill, we can share the experience, with photos. Hurray!
Just wait until they adapt and start growing. Just those few days in a bag/box causes them to loose color and form. It always amazes me how they transform.
And isn't it great that semps are so forgiving, they can go for such a long time without planting. Pretty amazing little guys.

Oh boy, Michelle I am so relieved to know you are okay. Putting your new semp babies in a sheltered spot was the perfect solution. Thumbs up
