same here. GF brought seeds from Beaoukout (sp) Gardens in Seattle. Probably thinks I am a genius and can germinate plants out of the zone. Nothing ever appeared.

Jo Ann..seeing your pic of Patty's plum foliage makes me wonder if my Patty's Plum has yet to bloom. Looks like the same as your foliage. Now I'm curious. I thought it was one of those big thistle bushes and was about ready to dig it up. Maybe I'll wait longer to see if it will surprize me!

Another thing for me to learn to do..draw a diagram where certain plants are planted. I make markers for everything but some have gone missing, and I end up stepping on them sometimes..metal and all. My big size 9 or 10 cloghoppers!

I would wait on the poppy to see if it sets up a bud stem.
Ahh maps,grids and markers. All are temporary for one reason or another. BUT I keep them just the same. I have an old brain that needs managing.

They claim some of those blue poppies are hardy to Zone 9. Is that true? I saw these on a site that just sells poppies. If they will grow here, I will buy some!

They dont grow in Z6a.I never believe what the grower says.

I dont think they would grow were its hot. If you do a such on DG for blue popies a thread will come up aout a person in Alaska that grows them. I think they need to grow in cool weather with cool summers. Just my thinking.

They do well in the northwest where there arent such extremes in weather.

Is this not really hardy to Zone 9? Someone should tell them to change that.

I buy poppy seeds from her. Check the zone in Washington and Oregon.If it's 6 .

My sister in Law had good luck with them and she lived in California, low humidity and cool nights. I never could even get a sprout.

Blue poppies want well drained acid soil, cool weather. Hence, they do well in the PNW, and I had an online friend in Newfoundland who also grew some beautiful ones. She's grown them for years.

These growing conditions don't exactly describe my alkaline clay soil, hot humid summers, so I've never tried them.
