This is the guy that gets all the blame for my OCD garden of 2 acres. He gave me the garden bug and there seems to be no cure. 🤩🐝

Bea, I loved Paul James! It's hard to believe that he has been off the air for so long. My Mom and all my gardening friends used to watch him too!

I remember when HGTV actually had gardening shows on it Rolling on the floor laughing

Do you remember A Gardener's Diary with Erica Glasener? I used to make lists of plants to get from her show.

Ah, the good old days!

Mieko2...so glad you remember. Paul James still does guest appearances on YouTube thru the Oklahoma university garden programs. I can't believe how long ago those shows were on. Oh yes gardners diary with Erica. Ok .. she was another one of those great teachers on hgtv that I was always glued to her shows too. Not like everything on today with bazillions of products to sell. I miss all those garden shows . They were the best and always made gardening fun. Some are on YouTube.

Yes 👍 the good ole days.. All those shows were priceless. 😍🐝

We were stationed in Alice Springs Australia when I started getting interested in gardening so most won't recognize the tv program—Burke's Back Yard. I remember Paul James as well from when we returned to the states—watched every episode!

LizinElizabeth.. those were the best garden shows. Great info, education, many techniques to accomplish just about anything from a-z, new tools, encouragement with pro guests with info made easy, and lots of humor.

After watching an episode it was like recharging our batteries with loads of ideas that we could tackle almost anything.

I remember Elizabeth Co. when I lived in Co. it's a lovely small town south of Santa Fe and County Line Rd. Not far from Littleton. Beautiful area !

Do we know who is going to replace Monty Don from Gardener's World? I always watch them and the Scottish Beechgrove Garden.

Let's hope he recovers and knowing his gardener skills he will be back. I have no idea who will replace him in the mean time.
I have watched him on BBC .
Gardeners World is one of the oldest garden show on tv. You can actually purchase the videos from Amazon. It's still on you tube.

I watched some GA's videos last night and I did order some Dalmatian peach foxglove seeds. I was also tempted to get some B&G soil conditioner but I found none online or in my local area. Next week I have to call around. I like the look of her mulching with soil conditioner, it makes her plants pop out. I have to get better mulch. The HOA gardeners blow the glass seeds around here, not sure if it's a good idea for the front yard. But I will get something for my back yard.

I think the take away from any show is different...John Lords Garden is the same zone/weather as mine so I can plant what he does and sort of how...GA has lovely design and landscape, but I use different plants...Jim Putnam has a nursery and garden center perspective and I learn container stuff from him....Charles Dowding is the best for veggies and no-dig for me, since he has my weather too...although I like Monty Don, I can't really figure out his place...Linda Vader is the topiary gal...Northlawn Flower Farm shows how to get cut flowers in a nice landscape....Of course there are others because I feel so new to all of this at times.

When you are trying out a new space it is very helpful to get lots of input...sometimes it is good to just go with one person and start too....it is all figuring it out.

Lg...your peony youtube post is wonderful!!!!!!

I'm glad you liked it, Annie! I'm really going to try to do videos of my peonies this Spring.

ALEX, oh my!!! That garden is stunning 😍 . Those hydrangeas in the pots gave me a great idea!!

And what do you think was trimmed into those triangular obelisks? Yews?

Thank you for sharing that!

This would be my cup of tea. I wonder if they have any peonies in the garden. Since the video is taken in May, I guess they are a good month ahead of us (Toronto). Our roses peak in late June and July. Thus, the peonies, particularly TPs could bloom in their area in April and May.

That video shows me I can still plant more. My garden is not as dense yet.

SoCal, I thought about you when I posted the video: "SoCal must see this video". You might have something like that Smiling

Haha, I need to maximize my gardening space. Right now I think it's bare. From some of the Instagramers that I follow, I think I have not fully utilized my garden space yet. For example, I'm following someone who is living in an apartment in Germany, she only grows out of her balcony, she has various pots and containers, but her balcony is very lush.

Funny, I am still deciding how I like my garden to look. Laura from GA talks about how she likes lots of structure in her garden to hold in the lush. I have also seen very ordered more evenly spaced gardens...but I still haven't decide what I like and how I want it to look.

The good news for you Annie, is that the garden can be a changing palette and you can change your mind to incorporate a more personally pleasing design. I think that is part of the fun of it.
