You're welcome Karen. I hope you find something you like.
Alex that is a beautiful garden. I would have expected it to be crowded with tourists.

Alex, thanks for sharing your pictures! How tall will the yews get? I'm looking for plants that will create a screen for privacy.

Hi Annette, I already replied on 30/5 - just look it up on page 4. I would also consider other conifers or European hornbeam if you need privacy right away, but they shed leaves in winter Smiling I got 2 pines today and already planted one. Both are tiny ones - Japanese umbrella pine and Pinus Nigra Select Green a-la Oregon Green. Make sure you plant a lot of conifers - they are great in winter.

Hi Alex, sorry about the duplicate message, I did see your previous response, and I greatly appreciate it!

Glad to hear that you got some new conifers for your garden, I hope that they do well for you!

My wish list for conifers includes a Fat Albert Blue Spruce, Skyland's Oriental Spruce, and a Colorado Pyramidal Blue Spruce, as seen on the Garden Answer videos, which are so inspirational.

Hi Annette, I was also looking at Fat Albert Blue Spruce at one stage, but decided it will be too big for me, but if you have space it is great hedge maker. I love blue conifers - lucky enough my neighbors have them, so I do not need to plant them at all! Just forgot to mention that hornbeams are making really nice and tall hedges but to have to trim them regularly - I think in Monty Don personal gardens the tall ones are hornbeams.

Alex, you are correct, Monty does have hornbeams. I would prefer an evergreen hedge.

I plan to use the conifers that I mentioned above as accent trees, scattered throughout the garden, the create some textural interest. This is what happens when you start watching all these gardening shows😁!

Jasmin, I am sure there are still some videos available.
Annette, this is how some parts of my back yard look like on second spring. Just another 5-6 years when yews are 6 ft tall and I will be comfortable...:)

Gorgeous garden Alex! I also love your alliums, lupines, and irises! Are those forget-me-nots as the understory plants in the 1st picture? They add such a wonderful detail to your garden!

I've ordered some allium Purple Sensation and The Purple and White Globe Allium special from Van Engelen. I've grown schubertii before and loved them. I'm developing an allium fetish, thanks to GW and Monty😂!

Thanks everyone! I do not have cat, so do not know if catmint is so addictive as they claim to be Smiling I should have trimmed it, though, before flowering. Those are forget-me-nots that I moved from my old garden and also spread some seeds from the dry flowers - surprisingly went rather well. I love spring forget-me-nots and also that you can remove them easily if you do not want them. I am fond of alliums but not all of them grew nicely. Still keep my fingers crossed for Summer Drummer - some did not appear at all and some are rather pathetic.
