Ok, I've been back from Apopka for 24 hours now, have sorted through my new family and am ready to post. I came home with 18 new orchids, 4 from Laurel shopping at Redlands and 14 from the vendors at Apopka. What a fun day it was and always great to be with Laurel and Steve. My gardening friend Harriet went with me as the four of us get along very well.
I'll start by showing off Laurel's fine shopping effort here. Charlie Chapman of Chapman's Orchids said she has the eye, refering to the fact that she can walk into a greenhouse full of orchids and spot the outstanding ones in an instant. I just follow her around and pick up the scraps. Also, everything that Laurel picked for me is exquisit in mounting and form.
This is species Dendrobium alexandrae:
This is species Dendrobium parthenium mounted in a tree fern basket. I love tree fern baskets as everything I grow in them does really well. You get 360 degrees of fresh air and good drainage.
Yet another species Dendrubium, this one antennatum. It is mounted on a really heavy log. I have no idea what kind of wood it is.
This is where she ran in to budget problems so gifted me at least part of this Dendrobium eriaeflorum, another species and nicely mounted on wood.
