Lily season has been slow to get going here. It has been cold and rainy for days but the forecast is for better weather. Yay!

My basket of Lily Looks red dwarf lilies are blooming now.

This is a NoID Kiss Me Kate look alike that I have had for years. Very vigorous. Purchased as Pink Perfection from Jung's and that is the last time I ordered a lily from them. They have great corn seed though!

I recently purchased a pot each of Petite Brigitte and Tiny Padhye at a local nursery, both in bud, so I was taking a chance. I like the Tiny Padhye more than I thought I would. The flowers are large and of very heavy substance, and the color is not bad at all.

Petite Brigitte:

Tiny Padhye:

Last for now is Belo Horizonte which has become one of my favorites for upfacing lilies. Photo was taken right upon opening when the colors are most vivid. The red brushmarks are pretty much gone after a couple of days.

Lovely lilies ladies! Asiatics are finishing up so fast for me. Makes me sad, but the daylilies are starting.

Not sure who this yellow trumpet is. Can't seem to remember planting it. It's in a bed with a couple orientals and it makes me wonder if it was sent with them by mistake. Look familiar to anyone?

Wow, what great lilies! Pard, how do you get such great color on your Belo Horizonte? Seems like here in the Midwest the markings are not as outstanding as the NW. You lucky NWers. Your lilies always look better. You always seem to have those fine details pronounced. Lovely!

So that's what G.F. Wilson is supposed to look like, Mags. Mine turned out to be another Claude Shride or some such. And it came from our Lily Society sale, too!

Well I really don't see any need for more flower pics, but these are kinda different...

I have been out of town for a few days and I returned home to a sea of Lilium regale. These lilies are more beautiful, fragrant and much taller than I ever would have imagined for first year stems. Many are 4-5 feet tall. I can't wait to see what they will do next year! Although not clearly visible, there are several stems of 'Invasion' in this bed which are forming nice candelabras of buds.

Here is another neighboring patch of Lilium regale with Allium 'Ambassador' seed heads and a small view of some of my EarthBoxes with vegetables (the trellises). They are not really visible, but there are stems of 'Silk Road' popping up throughout this bed as well.

Here is another charmer that is very difficult to photograph. It is Judith Freeman's 'Antique Lace'. The blossoms are slightly smaller than 'Rosepoint Lace' and more down facing, but they have a wonderful peachy blush and a light, sweet fragrance. It is not photogenic. In person, however, I could stare at it all day long! Also included in the photo are borage seedlings and an Allium christophii seed head.

I have some buds on 'Karen North' that are ready to pop open any minute now. I can't wait to see it!
