@LizDTM It has a 36 inch diameter and is about 24 inches deep. It has some built in ledges (3). I'd estimate that it holds between 50 to 60 gallons of water.

My goldfish are eating the roots of the water hyacinths this year. First time I have ever encountered this. My lilies look puny now also so I suspect they are attacking them too.
Normally I am composting bunches of hyacinths every week but this year I am having trouble keeping any alive. It seems they just developed a taste for plant material and that was it. The pond is well established and the fish are several years old. Go figure. My pond is a 150 gallon Rubbermaid stock tank from Tractor Supply.

So pretty, Dave! Thumbs up What fertiliser do you use?

Re fish eating plants - ours will eat the waterlilies (and pretty much anything else) if they decide they're not being given enough fish food. We now have a Koi Cafe (or is it Cafe Koi? made in the USA) with a solar panel, which distributes food at programmed intervals. Since we installed it, the fish have stopped bothering the plants. We did have to put quite large stones on top of the compost in the planters to stop them digging in there.

When I had a larger pond with Koi all the plants were fair game. I no longer have Koi and don't miss the mess they made. My plain old goldfish and Shubunkins get fed a high end food twice a day. I don't know what has gotten into them .

Thanks, Dave. Your pond looks beautifully lush - perhaps I should give Pondtabbs a try (I think I've seen them in the UK). I tend to go for products that require just a once-a-year application...

I wasn't able to find the type of container you have Dave, but I went and got a pot of about the same size. Got the water lily moved over there to try to save it until I can find the right container. Did you order yours online or find it locally?

@LizDTM I got it locally here in Chattanooga. I would think it would be too big/expensive to ship.

Waited a long time to find one of these. Had a white one many years ago. Still looking for a replacement. Bloom is only about 1 inch across.

Now waiting for the Water Poppy to bloom that I got the other day. Someone gave me a small snippet and it looks like it will do well. It can survive by just floating.

That Snow Flake Lily is fascinating, Mike; never seen one before. Why don't you add the pic to the DB? I tip my hat to you.

I thought it was a water Lily but when I checked the plant database I find that is listed as a Marshwort - Nymphoides.

Some websites list it as a water snow flake native to Australia. Some say it is invasive in some US States.

There are a number of different color variations but probably not available everywhere.

(nice to hear from someone in England. I'm originally from East Anglia.)

I really like your snow flake/marshwort - do you think it would grow in the south of France?

Small world - whereabouts in East Anglia? I studied then worked at the University of Cambridge, still have a Fellowship at one of the colleges.

Born in Essex, Lived near Royston and worked in Cambridge near Parkers Piece for six years until coming to Hawaii in 1976

Definitely think the Marshwort would ground in the south of France. I understand some folks grow it in small tubs and take it indoors during the winter.

Really small world, @microb ! I lived in New Square, if you remember it (about 1 minute's walk from Parker's Piece). Hawaii must have been a total change!

Mika - when were you in Cambridge?

This is a night blooming water lily. Will try and get "a shot in the dark" if it comes out again tonight.
