July set a new record here w/ 28 days above 90° (of which 11 days were 100° or more) Rain totaled .34", normal is just shy of 4". Central Illinois recently upgraded to severe in the drought category. Some corn fields are so dry, plants are falling over. One local farmer dug down 6' next to his field, no moisture encountered. Water restrictions are starting to appear in various local communities. I know my water bill for July is going to be monumental.
So far have had 114 lilies bloom (or attempt to, many presented w/ blasted buds). I think there's only 2 left to bloom (may have lost 11 lilies to fence installers). Those w/ presentable blooms were posted in June/July bloom threads in lilies forum. Bloom sequence ran about 3 weeks earlier than last year.

How very strange. My potted wisteria tree decided to bloom again, too! It happened in the midst of my Japanese beetle battle, and I forgot to photograph it. Are we in copycat mode or what?

Strange things are happening all the time. I´m sure your Wisteria loves you and has given you these beautiful blue flowers just to make you happy. Sharon Im sorry but the root cutting you sent me did not make it. It is still in a pot in a sheltered place on my patio, but without leaves. I will put it in a greenhouse in fall and see it it does anything next spring. I think I am too optimistic to think I could grow a wisteria here, but I often tend to try to do impossible things. :greengrin:

Breaks my heart that the wisteria I send didn't survive, but 10 days (I think it was) in trains and planes and who knows what else was probably more than a young plant could survive. We'll try it again next summer with more soil and water crystals added to the packing. And I will see if I can find a more mature plant to send. No doubt the climate change was a factor too, but even so, let's remember to try again. I never give up, remember that!

Did you do any pruning after it's first flush? That often stimulates another round of bloom. I see several here in town reblooming again.

I prune all the time, Sue. I have to or the new growth would cover my entire yard and deck. I start pruning as soon as the leaves appear and continue through late fall.

Interior pruning is done mostly in the fall but since mine are both in tree form, it's pretty difficult to get close to the real interior.
Mine bloomed with only a cluster or two one warm fall day a couple of years ago, but after the leaves appear, rarely if ever does it bloom; not till now.

Add honeysuckle to the strange list. It only blooms in April here, or did.

We were cleaning up some storm messes this morning over on a corner of the property - where lots of wisteria grows - and while the wisteria wasn't blooming, the honeysuckle sure was. It's fragrance is as wonderful in August as it is in April.
