Wow, that's one big tomato, Rita. And it does help when
there is something else to focus on after bloom season.
The veggie garden here is on its last legs, but the Crepe
Myrtles are showing their stuff.

These past few years I got very depressed about the end of daylily bloom season. But it is not as bad this year because I have the tomato crazies so badly. And the tomatoes are doing fabulously. Thumbs up

You are truly blessed to have tomatos left. I got two small tomatos off my one vine that still has anything but dead branches left. I'm finishing up my seed harvest. I had 3 blooms on a few rebloom scapes today. They only have about 4 buds per scape and they are just nearly gone. So, I'm going through withdrawal on blooms, pods, and tomatos. I NNNNNNNEEEEEED RAIN. We've had 2 or 3 showers this last week that dropped maybe a quarter of an inch of rain in total. It's fixing to be September and I so need to start repotting and potting up and planting seed. Time is flying by so fast. Way toooo o fast.

Enjoy that box of little tomatos. They look great!

Mona, those Juliet tomatoes I picked on the 9th (pictured) are not very big but those three Beefmasters I picked today are really big. So make plenty of whatever one needs tomatoes for.

My tomatoes are producing like crazy this year and I really expect them to keep going thru September. The plants have a touch of Early Blight but I spray with Draconil, which keeps it at bay so all is good.

I am sorry about your lack of blooms and lack of tomatoes. I guess your tomato plants died out because of the excessive heat. But you are probably able to plant earlier in the spring than we can here.

I have one tomato plant that looks just awful. All the leaves are turning brown and it actually looks like it is dying. I don't see any hornworms on it. Haven't a clue what is wrong with it.

Well, unless it needs water it has probably caught one of the fungus deseases that tomato plants are prone to getting.

No water should be needed. We have had close to 2 inches this week. Can anything be done for it Rita??

Depends on what it has. Did this happen really quickly? (like in a day or two) If it turned brown quickly and has Late Blight, bad news. Has to be pulled out, bagged up and sent away. If it has early blight it can be controlled with Daconil Fungicide. My tomatoes have some early blight and as you all know I have been getting tomatoes like crazy. I just spray weekly with the Daconil. If it has any of the wilts (Fusarium or Verticulum) Those are in the soil and there is nothing you can do for this plant. Pull it and again bag it. No composting of deseased plants. Amend the soil with PLENTY of compost. Plenty! Add Seaweed fertilizer, add lime and add Crab Shell (sold as a fertilizer). You can buy Seaweed Fertilizer and Crab Shell from Neptunes Harvest.

Also I forgot to add that I have been using Algoflash (liquid fertilizer) on my tomato plants this year. First time for me trying AlgoFlash. Fabulous, Fabulous stuff. I added Algoflash to the recomdations list. Also added Neptunes Harvest.

Well, never been one to have any patience, I ordered tomato seeds from Wild Boar Farms. I read on their website that tomato seeds are good for ten years so I guess mine will be fine until I start them next spring! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

I ordered -

Rita it seemed to happen once the plant got large enough to fill the tomato cage. Then it looked like it started dying.

If there is a lot of green plant left then snip off the dead leaves and bag them, spray with Daconil. Can't hurt. If it is all brown then I figgure that plant is a gonner.

I am no expert ever if I see pictures of tomato deseases. Fortunatly only had to ever deal with some Early Blight. Early Blight is the most common of the tomato fungal deseases anyway.

Beefmasters and Big Boy (second picture) tomatoes I picked today. No real giant ones like the other day in this first picture.

Here are a few other Beefmasters. I did weigh the bigger one. 1 pound 7 ounces. I could tell by looking at it that it wasn't as big as that super sized one I had the other day but still a very good size. Unfortunatly it has a bad spot from where it started to crack and has moulded up top at the center. I will cut it up later and eat the good parts.

I eat tomatoes and cucumbers all the time from the garden but I will not even buy a supermarket cucumber. I do buy grape tomatoes in the winter to snack on. But of course now I have my own grape tomatoes out in the garden. Smiling

I don't buy them from the supermarket either except an occasional
tomato for hamburgers during the winter, which we don't have very often.
That meal is mostly a quick one to make

I have been picking Vivia Italia tomatoes. Love them! Taste really good fresh too and I would never have wanted to eat my Romas fresh. SO MUCH better than Roma!

Seven quarts of Juliet tomatoes I picked today.

Then there were some cherry tomatoes to pick.

The neightbors kids just love the little tomatoes for snacking, especially the Juliets. I saved a few for myself and gave the rest to the kids. Thing is I wait a few days and then I pick those Juliets again. And each time I have been getting more than I did the time before. Fabulous tomatoes!
