I bet the neighbors' kids just love you. Yes, they are fabulous tomatoes.
I think I will try the Juliet ones next year.

I had a retasting today of two of my tomato taste test loosers. Whoppers and Superfantastic had really nice fruits on both so I picked them and tasted to compair again. Still loosers! Thumbs down I had read somewhere that fruits could taste better later in the season. Well, not these. Still bland and just not the right notes of taste to me. Not coming back next year. I have so many other varieties to try.

Well Rita, tried my first Black Prince heirloom tomato yesterday and I wouldn't plant it again. Very much a lack of flavor. I have had Black Krim and that one is a whole lot better.

Humm, I have never tried BLACK PRINCE. I have tried growing BLACK KRUM but it was a total disaster for me. The fruit split when it was still green and not near ripe and then it would rot. I never did get even ONE good non rotten ripe fruit.

Here is the Tall bearded Iris garden I made from all the relocated iris that I moved. Now where did they come from and why did I move them?

Thumb of 2012-08-21/Newyorkrita/6eaa3b
They moved out of this square raised bed I call Tower Square and used to be an iris garden. I decided to make this a veggie bed next spring so needed to move everything out.

I do know the iris are really much too crowded in the new area but don't care. They needed to move and I only had so much room so they are crammed in. Truely I love TB when they bloom but think that the plants themselves are ugly. This is the perfect place for them along the driveway where I can pay much attention to them in bloom and ignore them the rest of the time.

The other thing I did was extend this tomato bed I call the old tomato bed.

Thumb of 2012-08-21/Newyorkrita/aacbfe
Had to move some stuff and change things around but I got the bed outlined and put in. Plus there is room around it so I have a path. Just planted the grass seed in the path area this morning as I just finished the bed expansion yesterday.

Yes, very busy. Wanted more room for veggies next spring. Didn't want to have to try to get it done in spring so was planning to get it all done this fall. Got it done before fall as the weather has been usually cool for August lately.

Thanks! The funny thing about Fountain of Life is that it is one of my only two daylilies to rebloom this year. Plus only one fan. Last year and the year before it had so much rebloom that the rebloom was actually more than the already impressive original bloom.

Well, I actually already used that square bed. I had Sugar snap pea seeds that I had not planted so I just put them there today. Not sure if I might be too late but nothing to lose by planting them. The old tomato garden area now enlarged will just sit until next spring when I add compost over the entire thing and plant tomatoes.

I have 12 plants in that old tomato garden. Two rows of 6. I plan on adding 8 more by putting 4 more in each row. So next spring will be able to put in two rows of ten for 20 plants there. That should be a really great producing garden as the 12 plants I have this year are already putting out tomatoes like crazy.
