Connie, I'm close to sorting the seed you sent. Art Evans sent a huge box of seed donations and I'm just about done with his. Also thank you for the pictures!

Anthony, great seedings. I like Louise!

The last bloom one this one is fading. Unfortunately a number buds across my Asiatics and Aurelians were cooked this year in the horrible weather conditions we've had and so I only had two flowers from this plant.

Opening today... This is one of my favourites from @vanozzi's breeding - a large, gently recurved pastel. My nickname for it is the 'Green Queen', but I'm sure Paul has his own name for it. It seems to do reasonably well in the tubs I have at the moment, always producing a tall stem with at least half a dozen flowers. A number of the Aurelians only produce a few flowers each year due to the space I have to grow them in, but hopefully (this year) my wife and I will find a house with room for a proper garden and I can move all my Liliums to garden beds instead of pots, planters and tubs.

I do like the 'Green Queen'.

Sorry to hear about the weather there. It has been a rough go of it. Unfortunately the weather conditions we have little control over and the ever changing climate makes it difficult to problem solve easily.

Love the gentle curve of that one, especially. So many of the aurelians have irregular and inconsistent reflexing that ruin the other good qualities a flower might have.

Yikes, Joshua - moving !
I did that in 1992. Moved 1/4 acre of perennials to new property in a holding bed. Moved to a colder growing zone, too.
Local farmer worked up the ground where I could temporarily keep plants while I prepared permanent gardens. A two year endeavor I will (hopefully) never experience again.
New personal slogan: "I'm not moving again. You can bury me here."
P.S.: We built a special shed for the hotrod, until the barn was finished.
The period was rich in experiences that I documented and later used in my lecture series at Michigan State University.
I wish you the very best, my friend.

Thanks Kathy. The biggest challenge has been trying to find a suitable property. In suburban Melbourne, it now seems that location is the key factor that sets the price - the house can be so bad that it has to be rebuilt and yet it will still go for a price similar to a house that is quite livable. Then there's the subdivision limits, too; any property big enough to subdivide and put units on gets the attention of the developers, which often pushes the price up.

We recognized the same problems here in Michigan, Joshua.
We found the acreage we wanted - a 90 minute drive from the city. We accepted the fact we'd drive quite a ways to buy basics, that we'd live on a dirt road, have to dig a well, build a house, barn, shed, etc., but have never regretted being in the country, wide open spaces, peace & quiet, farm community.
Back then prices ran $1,800(USD)/acre. Now an acre is running around $2,700. The soil tilth and drainage were factors we considered, too.
When we look back on what we did over the years we say we're glad we did it because in today's world we could not.

Anthony, those are nice ones. I like your cross and the one you grew out of mine gives me inspiration too. I don't have anything like that really.

I like Tracey's seedling. It reminds me of Gold Eagle Clone except for the papillae.

I also like the red backed trumpets, something I am also working on. I want the blooms to hang down like bells. It may take me awhile Whistling .

I really like the aurelians with green. Joshua, remind me next year and I can seed you some pollen from some of mine - if you'd like to make crosses for more greens.

Surprise! Haven't looked in at the forum for months. It's nice to see familiar names. Smiling

A few (maybe more than a few Whistling ) pics from the last few weeks.

Oooh, and this one is an OT rather than straight aurelian - Tall Boy x the green one pictured above. There is more green in it than the pic really shows, and it has the green anthers that don't open properly. Four out of six didn't open.
